The Medical Industry is soooooo Broken

I just did the same now that I'm eligible for Medicare. A traditional Medicare plan with a supplement may cost a little more than an advantage plan, but you aren't locked into a particular network and can go to any doctor you want. For instance If I was in an advantage plan and needed...

Hidden cameras found in residential neighborhood in Washington state

Due to budget cutbacks this may be how the FBI surveils US citizens nowadays!:p

Hidden cameras found in residential neighborhood in Washington state

Saw this news article on Foxnews yesterday. The cameras were turned over to the police. Sounds like they were trail cams that were camouflaged. https://www.foxnews.com/us/mysterious-hidden-cameras-spotted-quiet-neighborhood-footage-found-residents-rattled

My friend has a stalker: Short and long term solutions?

I've seen a few good ideas for securing the garage door opener manual release cord. The easiest one is to just remove the pull handle from the manual release cord. That way if they push the top of the door in try and grab the release cord with a hook there won't be anything to hook on to. Also...

    Pipe Hitters

Good times! lol Some guys in the shop would also use a little water to break up the carbon. Bring the engine up to a fast idle and pour just a little water down the carburetor. Water doesn't compress, so it would help break up the carbon in the combustion chamber. Sounds crazy, but it worked...

    Pipe Hitters

That was an added benefit. Cleans the carbon from the intake valves and helps with noisy lifters!

    Pipe Hitters

You're lucky you were able to walk away from that deer incident. Ironically your 99 Ranger had a 5R55e transmission, which was also a descendent of the C3/A4LD transmission! But it was much stronger, and was also used in the Explorer and Mustang. If you lost reverse but it upshifted normally...

    Pipe Hitters

I used to get a lot of those old Ford transmissions in the shop that had a blown vacuum modulator. I loved rolling up to an unsuspecting tech working in his bay and fog him out! lol!:lmao: When the diaphragm in the modulator leaked, it would suck transmission fluid straight into the engine...

Well the C3 worked pretty well in the Pinto! lol:p I've been working at Ford dealerships since 1977 specializing in Ford automatic transmission repair. You don't need to convince me it was light duty trans and not suitable for a light truck. I paid many a house note working on those things!.

    Pipe Hitters

Actually the Aerostar came with the A4LD automatic overdrive transmission, which was similar to a C3 trans, but redesigned to add an overdrive ratio and a lock up torque converter.

Looks Like Internet Explorer Died Today

I don't have the option to reload in IE mode on the Win 11 laptop I'm using to view this forum right now, it's greyed out.

That would end it alright, but we can't even keep murderers in jail nowadays, for some reason... :idk: Let's go Brandon! :headbang:

Wasn't aware there was a mini version of the 5.25" floppy. But I'm sure there's a few people reading this topic wondering what the hell is a floppy drive anyway, and how old are these guys! lol

Some of that stuff is probably in the Smithsonian now! lol I never owned a 5 1/4" floppy, but I remember my Dad using them. I switched him over to the 3.5" floppy, then l;ater went all out with the Iomega Zip drives!

    This just in.....

I left out part of the story. At that time we had a teenage gangbanger living right next door in a typical residential neighborhood who used to burglarize his own neighbors. One day in broad daylight I saw him standing in his garage holding a deer rifle that turns out he had just stolen from one...

    This just in.....

I also had a bullet come through my roof a few decades ago when living in Houston. I saw a hole in the ceiling of the garage, so I went in the attic and found a hole in the roof that lined up with the hole in the ceiling drywall. After looking around in the garage I found the spent bullet which...

What software do you use for backup?

Yes, I forgot to mention the snapshot backup program that is also part of Synology. It's a great tool that keeps multiple versions of a file so you can restore back to any point in time. As far as the processor speed, Synology doesn't need the fastest cpu, similar to Blue Iris. Their NAS units...

What software do you use for backup?

I use that as well, along with Acronis. I also use Synology Hyperbackup which is designed to backup the Synology NAS unit. All are great backup solutions.

What software do you use for backup?

I've been using Acronis Cyber Protect for a couple years now. It's a good backup program that is subscription based. I also have a Synology NAS unit which has it's own backup software as well.

Which UPS for 24 hr CCTV backup?

I bought a portable Duromax 13500 watt generator to serve as basically a whole house generator. I converted it to run on natural gas, which runs clean, similar to propane. I read that the cylinder head valves may eventually need to be adjusted due to running these fuels, as they don't lubricate...

    PoE Managed Switch

I actually started out with Synology Surveillance Station last year using the 2 free licenses. I already owned one of their NAS units so it was a good way to get started with security cameras. But then I tried Blue Iris after lurking on this site for a while, and now I'm hooked! lol. To be...

    PoE Managed Switch

I read the reason their cameras are so expensive is because the cost of licensing them is included, whereas Synology charges you 50.00 per camera to use their Synology Surveillance Station. (first 2 camera licenses' are free). Don't know why they don't want a broader market share like Synology.

    PoE Managed Switch

I hear you. But I already had the Unifi Dream machine SE router and access points, so I sprang for their switch as well. I'm not using their cameras though, they tie you to just their product line. If I had to do it over I might have taken a cheaper route.
