Dahua DH-DB6I Video Doorbell Has Lost Chime?

That might work...but the question would then be what happened to require a hard reset??

Dahua DH-DB6I Video Doorbell Has Lost Chime?

Yes....start with the basics. It could be that your transformer was a bit under powered from the beginning and worked fine for 18 months but has now weakened. See if your doorbell is listed on the compatibility list or call the doorbell camera manufacturer support line and ask them. This is the...

Dahua DH-DB6I Video Doorbell Has Lost Chime?

I have a Lorex doorbell camera but it may be similar to yours. First thing to do is verify in the app that the doorbell is set to "Mechanical" since it could have somehow changed. Secondly, make sure the doorbell works in stand alone mode, meaning without the doorbell camera or chime kit...

How can I keep the spiders from sabotaging my driveway cam?

I have turret cameras and they still get spiderwebs. Spiders are attracted to the IR lights. I cleaned the cameras yesterday evening after work and the spiderwebs were back again this morning....spiders never sleep. :lmao: :lmao:

Electrical components (cameras and related) inside walls/ceilings?

The Ubiquiti AI Theta cameras can flush mount into drywall surfaces but the hubs have to be located where you can physically access them, so you can't bury them inside walls, but they can be up to 30M away from the camera.

    Neighbor hits my recycling bin

That looked almost intentional to me. Years ago I had some drunk take out my mailbox post late one night and almost hit my car sitting in the driveway. The mailbox was completely flat with a big tire mark on it...cost me over $30 to replace everything. The Sheriff came out and made a report but...

    SmartPSS and PCNVR questions

I think many people start off with a combined NVR & camera package purchase just to get them started and some will progress further into purchasing better cameras and PC based NVR systems running Blue Iris, but most probably won't. My wife gets a lot of entertainment out of watching our security...

    SmartPSS and PCNVR questions

SmartPSS software is not a PC based NVR. It is the same as the rebranded Lorex Cloud NVR software and is meant to interface directly with the NVR for live view and playback. It does work but it's very finicky to use and often times will lose connection to the NVR during a session, especially if...

Lost forum access and forced to change a still valid email address....why??

Yes....that's exactly what happened to me as well. I could log in fine but had no privilege permissions to do anything. Hopefully it doesn't happen again in a few days, but thanks for the tip of switching back to the old email address if it breaks again. :)

Lost forum access and forced to change a still valid email address....why??

I recently lost the ability to make new posts or respond to posts on this forum, supposedly because they couldn't verify my email address which is still active and valid. I had to switch to using a different email address to restore access privileges. I sent a message to "Contact Us" but never...

direct burial bulk Ethernet cable recommendations

Good idea....but just be aware that mice and other rodents like to chew through fiber optic cable, so I wouldn't leave it exposed anywhere that mice can get to it. I have fiber cable running in the crawlspace under my house and the mice had their way with it. They won't eat my Cat6 cables...

direct burial bulk Ethernet cable recommendations

You could just run some gray PVC electrical pipe right next to the water pipe and eliminate the 3" corrugated. But if you still want the 3" pipe then I'd use schedule 40 PVC and not the cheap corrugated pipe that is meant for drainage pipes because rodents can chew right through that thin stuff...

Suggestions for camera(s) for weather - looking for 360° view

Surprisingly the lenses actually clear pretty quickly once the rain stops, but I'm amazed at how many people expect the cameras to see through the rain. Another consideration is cobwebs...spiders are attracted to the IR lights and like to build their webs covering up the lens. I have a duster on...

Suggestions for camera(s) for weather - looking for 360° view

In regards to weather, if the lens gets wet or during very heavy rains the cameras won't have a clear view or picture regardless of which camera you get. I have six outdoor cameras mounted on posts, so it's just something to keep in mind regarding your performance expectations.

Did the update tool come with any instructions or readme file...?? If the updated firmware file is zipped then the update process may not work if you unzip it first. How to install PoE camera with limited attic access?

I couldn't find any actual customer reviews on that switch so call me skeptical whether it could survive sustained high thermal temperatures in an attic environment. All electronic components have a maximum temperature rating specification from the component manufacturer and bad things happen if...

How to install PoE camera with limited attic access?

Putting a PoE switch in the attic is a bad idea because they're not designed to function in extremely hot environments like an attic. If anything move it down into the garage space. Upgrade your cable to Cat6....I never run Cat5/5e anymore because they are such lower quality cables.

Never thought I'd say this, but.....

There are three houses on three different streets with the same house number as mine. USPS will often deliver packages to the wrong house and they'll just say it was delivered and won't help track it down, so you have to depend on the honesty of the person that received it in error to bring it...

How to install PoE camera with limited attic access?

Blue Iris requires a dedicated PC running 24/7. It isn't free and has licensing fee renewals if you want continuous support, plus the learning curve to get everything set up the way you want. You also need network switches with PoE support or use PoE injectors to power the cameras. An NVR is...

    IR cameras watching each other

You didn't say how far apart they would be from one another, but if it's a problem then just disable the IR on one of the cameras because the second camera would essentially provide enough IR for both if they're that close together.
