    Hi from Western Canada

Guess I should introduce myself. I do hang out on another forum, not sure how I found this one, but seems to be a bit more active, and a lot less drama than the other one, nice to see! I'm a bit of a camera addict from Western Canada. I started in 2000 when I got an Osprey analog video card...

    First time buying/installing IP cams

Hi, welcome! 1) Great cameras, not sure you could do any better at the price. Can't really advise on the NVR, I don't know anything about them. 2) Not familiar with that store, probably similar to most of the Chinese stores. I have used this store, and many other people give them good...

    Wireles Slow With Multiple Cameras

If I had to do wireless cameras on 2.4 GHZ i'd split them up. 3 good quality access points, one on each of channels 1, 6 and 11. Divide up your 2.4 devices to split the bandwidth load across all 3. Anything that can do 5GHZ put it on a 4th access point.

Wow. If you have to sleep with a gun in your hand, time to live somewhere else. Makes me glad to be Canadian. Also, why the ___ would you have cats and not dogs????

    Mice

Have recently had a problem with mice in our shed, and garage. Used 2 Hikvision 2032 bullets, BlueIris and a few traps to take care of things. I'm amazed at how well Blue Iris motion detection works for this situation. First video, really small mouse shows off the excellent motion...

Not worth the time or trouble.

I'm a big open source fan, and a Linux fan. I use a few really good open source programs to save my employer a ton of money. Nagios, RT, Spamassassin, all in place of very expensive commercial alternatives. Love it! I started my camera security on Zoneminder, had a few analog cameras on an...
