Will this computer run BI well. First post here - need answer to quick question.

Most Xeon processors do not include the GPU within the CPU, unlike most i3->i7 processors, so it may need a separate GPU (graphics) card. Normally, a Xeon processor is used for critical operations, such as servers and require ECC RAM (Error Correction Code memory, which includes a parity bit to...

Dual NIC setup on your Blue Iris Machine

Within the Settings, select the Web Server tab and turn it on, enter in the IP address of your network card that can get out to the internet, note the default port is 81, (some people change it, others leave it as is). For example, if your router is at 192.168.0.1 and your BI computer...

    Frigate NVR anyone?

Ran across a posting on HA a while back, where he used Firgate+Coral TPU for AI detection, with NodeRed, MQTT that tells BI to record motion, along with BI recording 24x7. I haven't been following Code Project AI, I assume someone can create an add-on to utilitze the TPU. Hopefully the stock...

Great mind/memory and reflexes, but he forgot to plug it in :D! The lazy way is just type message on your computer in English (or other) and let it send the Morse code.

DS Thinks Cat is a Person

Have you tried changing the models with the ones @MikeLud1 created, https://www.ipcamtalk.com/threads/ip-cam-talk-custom-community-deepstack-model.60376 He talked about night-time issue with cat being IDed as person, maybe he updated the models since then...

Texas ERCOT Power - Round 2

I've been to South Texas Project (STP - Houston) and Comanche Peak (TXU/Luminant - Glen Rose, Granburg) several time about 25 years ago, are they still in operation? I thought they were looking at a couple new reactors at CP, maybe the Japan incident squashed that.

    Any Cord Cutters Here?

I just got locast when it finally came to the area, then it got shut down. I tried it out for free to see what it was like and image quality was not great, donation version may have had better Q. I get most of the local channels via OTA, depending on the weather/season. As for local...

    Any Cord Cutters Here?

Roku Channel, Redbox has free movies/tv shows too, with commercials, same with Freevee...have issues with Freevee on my Roku (when they try to insert the ad), but works ok with Firestick, so I power that up temporarily to watch Bouch Legacy.

    Any Cord Cutters Here?

Looks like you have two "lighthouse" ATSC 3.0 towers now. Phoenix was one of the first testbeds for ATSC 3.0, so it's not surprising that they added a second one in 2020. It will take time (and money) for all stations to add ATSC 3.0 equipment, then it will be up to them to decide to...

An idea, adding a drone into our security system

Cool idea, but a bit of a gimmick that only rich people would get! Maybe add a pi zero with programming, gps and use your other cameras as detection or other sensors to make it go to the location. They probably have a patent on it already, so you can't do it :(.

    Warm enough for ya?

The 90 degree weather a few weeks ago didn't bother me in the piedmont area, as the humidity seemed low and took a bit of work to start sweating, but now its too high for me, just walking out the mailbox, I start sweating .

How to mask the background without affecting the front view

I would use one copy of the camera without any filter and add person only to the list of objects you want, and use a high percentage/confidence detection for a person so that only when they are closer that it would ID as a person. The second copy of the camera, filter out the public road and...

How to mask the background without affecting the front view

Add AI into the mix, with DeepStack for example: https://www.ispyconnect.com/userguide-agent-deepstack-ai.aspx In BI, we can add the same camera twice, maybe you can do the same. One would be for "seeing" people in the area that you want, the second can filter for cars and people in the driveway.

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

No, he never got vaxed, since already had the anti-bodies from it, which was they said was better than getting a vax shot. He assumed it was Delta, as it was before Omicron started spreading. Seems like the older variants (Alpha, Beta...Delta) and vax shots for them, didn't seem to prevent...

    Pandemic threat? Anyone else concerned?

I believe PHARMA is pushing to make as many "sales" before the emergency use is dropped, then they become liable, that is why they are pushing to get as many as they can vaxed now, even those under 5 years old. A friend that wasn't vaxed got the Delta variant about 8 months ago and just...

The best way is to use OpenVPN, WireGuard or ZeroTier. If your shop router has OpenVPN server built in, enable that, and install the OpenVPN client on your Shield. I believe ASUS routers will walk you thru the process, but you may need to look on youtube for your router brand on how to set up...

    good deal on BI PC?

Don't forget that only Intel gen 8 and above may be compatible with Win 11 (Win 10 end of life is in 2025), you may want to future proof and get a gen 8 or better. I would ask the seller if it is Win 11 compatible.
