    I believe the cameras don't need the RS-485. They use UTC to control the PTZ via the DVR. You can but an UTC controller the goes inline.

    I put my NVR on a HDMI switch that supports PIP function. Cost was about $25. My setup is Dish to Yamaha to the Switch to the TV. Other than lack of PIP size/location it seems to work great. ^2cents

    I bought the same one and should have it this weekend. When I get it hooked up I'll let you know if Dahua, Hikvision and some of my cheap cameras work with it. Most of the time this type of NVR will have problems with Motion detection events from the camera, but seem to record 24/7 just fine...
