You can use a cable splitter that allows two cameras to use the same cable. Just use them for true POE don't try and use 12volt power injectors with them. Cable splitters and poe problems.
I have just purchased a couple of night color cameras and found the hikvision true colour better at night than the Dahua, some comparison pics and my views here .https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/just-installed-a-hikvision-color-vu-very-impressed.52832/
Not for me as I only bought this cam to see where my little Jack's were in the grounds and the Hik is by far the better of the two for night view tracking lol
They are screen shots in real time.
I'll try and find some time to do a video test and upload that.
I did watch a few you tube videos on...
Well the verdict is Hik vision color Vu, 10 out of 10 for night view. But only 6 out of 10 for day view.
Dahua 5 out of 10 for color night vision. But 8 out of 10 for day view. Hik vision Color Vu for night views but something much cheaper for daylight viewing. Is the Hikvision worth more than...
The Hikvision Color Vu has no infrared it does have 2 led lights but they are quite dim, Impressive technology. Dont think the Dahua has IR either will see what happens in an hour it's going dusk here in the bleak UK now. The Dahua only arrived this afternoon
Just bought a Dahua eagle 4mp 2.8mm 24/7 colour to try as it was less that half the price of the Hikvision ColorVu, day light images attached, will have some night ones later. This is just an easy access temporary location for testing purposes
Just updated one of my cameras to the Hikvision Color Vu. DS -2CD2347G1-LU 2.8MM 4MP NETWORK TURRET CAM
Straight out of the box plug and play, not adjusted any settings yet and It gives a very impressive colour night time image. I live in a remote woodland location so no street lights any...
With tigers help we established after I did some pin out checks that the issue was caused by sending 12 volts dc up the orange wire. This was caused by using the splitters in conjunction with rj45 power injector adapters. It appears you can use one or the other but not both.
It certainly does, that JBC soldering station is brilliant had it for over 25 years was seriously expensive with all the tips I have for smt stuff back then. Certainly makes the job so much easier
Thankyou, wouldn't have been able to fix it without yours and Tigers knowledge. Was quite easy to replace. I have had to change far worse SMT chips in my automotive career. Won't be using splitters and injectors together ever again. I shall be installing it 30 feet up over the weekend or should...
Massive thanks to Alastair my ebay ethernet transformers arrived today replaced the fried one and we are all fully operational again. £1.80 for 5 plus £3.60 postage.
I forgot many members were from the other side of the Pond. Here's a link to the UK's famous comedy show Only fools and horses
One of the most famous sketches
And probably the most famous sketch triggers broom
Might have worked if I'd used one of the 48v to 12 v converters, and done it like that. I used a pair of 12volt dc injector adapters as I was testing the cable splitters at the router on the bench and not on the POE hub which is in another building. Why I decided to test the splitters with...
I had concerns when the yellow splitter router rj45 terminated at the green out of the splitter T. I should never had tried the 12v power injectors after that.
It smells burnt and had been very hot by the looks of it. I can only find them on ebay 5PCS X HB1601SNL SOP-16 GLORY | eBay
I have a good set of electronic soldering gear so should be ok with replacing it
Pics of a couple of the boards one chip does look as though it's been a wee bit hot. If that is the chip I require is it available to buy here in the UK
That's how it worked and a couple of others are wired like that that I have, that are 12v cameras not true poe cameras. The issue seems to have secured when using the cable splitters, a bench test seems to show that if I use the 12volt injector cables with the splitters, Orange and Orange...
I assumed that the splitters being POE would allow me to use the 12volt injectors using the same wires this appears that that assumption was wrong, but I still cant understand why. The 12v injector at the router end appears to connect to cat5 cable sending power up to the power injector or...
Thankyou for the excellent informative reply. What I have is a non POE camera and was testing the 12v jack plug injectors with the ptz cameras own 12v power supply. This works fine until I tried to use the cable splitters. The camera didn't power up, so I thought no problem they aren't...
Just testing an Ali express cable splitter using cat 5e cable T 568b configuration. The T is marked "IN", "OUT" yellow and "OUT" green. Into the router I have the y adapter with yellow and green RJ45 connectors. The issue I have is that the yellow on the Y splitter terminates on the T connector...
After all that work to fix my ptz issues it looks like I may have just blown the board by plugging in a cable splitter and a poe 12volt splitter. What a plonker
