    I appreciate D-WDR is different than WDR - just wouldn't expect identical models (except one is 2*** and other is 3***) to have different functionality in that area. Will check next time I get the chance.

    Just like anything imported into the UK, duty might be payable depending on what the value displayed on the package indicates. In my experience it's either £0 or £20 or something but I suppose ordering 100 cameras would be different :) As long as the cameras report as English/US/World region...

    Well it can be changed and I'd expect the cameras to work properly. But it's technical. I suspect this seller has taken Chinese region cameras and (badly) hacked them to English, then put bullshit labels on trying to pass it off as legitimate world region. I'd much rather buy cameras I know...

    Also 5.3.0 150814 didn't exist when this camera was made (if the serial DS-2CD2732F-IS20150317CCWR321364435 is true). I suppose they could have upgraded it before sending it but I don't know a seller that would do that.

    The dev type and model name are 2 different things. The model name can be set to anything probably as far as I know it's just cosmetic. But if the dev type says the camera doesn't have SD card + audio, then camera won't try to use them even if it has them. I think that's what happening here...

    No the cameras are identical except for the region they are set to (shouldn't be a problem if you order from aliexpress as they should already be hacked). It's only cameras that are 3*** that have plastic instead of 2*** metal. Otherwise they are the same. Best not to update the firmware...

    If they are indeed hacked by the Chinese then they should already be English and other languages and work fine with your NVR. It's only when you start changing the firmware on the camera to non hacked versions things get more complicated.

    Agreed. AE is worth it for me, but I'd say it depends on what you're buying and what their intended purpose is. If you want the added safety and happy to pay extra (maybe not much extra if low end camera) then AE is not for you. I however have never had a problem.

    I suspect the Chinese have a leaked private RSA key if they really are hacking 5.3.5 - bear in mind they may have friends family etc that work in HQ. Just my guess. My understanding it's pretty secure just like speed666 says.

    I've already explained above that they changed it to be RSA sign based. You could TFTP but not all newer devices will reset configuration this way.

    You need to use SADP to send the file back to the device. The device checks that this file is signed by Hikvision and should reset password. If that's not working do the process again and make sure you don't restart the device between exporting and importing
