Change PTZ Presets based upon BI Motion Zones?

Hi wittaj, sorry for the delay - here in the UK, it’s Mother’s Day and I’ve just been in the bad books for not preparing dinner. I now see that my post was not sufficiently clear. Sorry. The unwanted PTZ operation is not a legacy from where it was mounted previously. The spotter camera for...

Change PTZ Presets based upon BI Motion Zones?

Crikey wittaj that was quick! But if possible please give me a bit more info. On the (spotter) camera by the front door, I had trigger camera groups checked to make the PTZ respond. When I uncheck that, the PTZ doesn’t respond. On the alerts tab, did your computer wrongly autocorrect ‘turn...

Change PTZ Presets based upon BI Motion Zones?

OK so other things got in the way and I didn’t try this out. However, I have now moved my main PTZ to a corner of the house where its normal preset position is to supervise the garage door with motion triggering but can swing round approx 180 degrees to a different preset when triggered by...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

Hi pozzello I think you maybe missed the key points on the low bit rate comments: 1. Regardless of the compression, when set to CBR, the camera stays in VBR 2. Regardless of the I-frame setting, the I-frame stays at 100. For example, this is 10 seconds with a fps of 10 Nevertheless, having...

IPC-T5442T-ZE dual IR - electrical tape?

If you’re saying the interim release 10-19-20 5442 turret had the 2 IR selection handinpalm, I’d say this was a mistake. Its surface area is smaller than the bullet and therefore able to dissipate less heat. The power supply has a correspondingly lower rating. Overdriving the LEDs will...

IPC-T5442T-ZE dual IR - electrical tape?

To throw in a comment from me, I have two 5442s from Andy. Both have the 2020-12-03 firmware. The bullet has two sliders but the turret only has one. I though this was a commonly understood limitation of the turret construction for some reason. Or am I wrong (yet again)?

Initial review of the Hikvision DS-2CD2087G2-L(U) ColorVu 4K 8MP IP bullet camera.

Morning Alastair It was a good iframe cross-check idea to drop the bitrate to 256kbit/s. I did the same and it confirmed the figure reported in Blue Iris as being correct i.e. 100 with a setting of 20. When you said “the values were aligned” was that the setting and VLC or by observing the...

Initial review of the Hikvision DS-2CD2087G2-L(U) ColorVu 4K 8MP IP bullet camera.

I'll stick with the firmware I've got thanks - maybe there are other changes that are not suitable for the DS-2CD2087G2-LU. Another age thing - thought it was a post from Alastair - sorry! Yes, will somebody else with this camera please post their findings please.

Initial review of the Hikvision DS-2CD2087G2-L(U) ColorVu 4K 8MP IP bullet camera.

Yes, it looks like the behaviour of the firmware in your DS-2CD2347G2-LU is very different. I will also confess that when I said the iframe was locked at 50 in my camera I was wrong - it's locked at 100. It's unfortunate that having got old, I even get simple arithmetic wrong. I have the same...

Initial review of the Hikvision DS-2CD2087G2-L(U) ColorVu 4K 8MP IP bullet camera.

Hi ljw2k. It's the 'I Frame interval' and not the 'Frame Rate' that I find doesn't work. But what I realise I also didn't make clear is that I can set the iframe OK on the configuration/video tab, it's just that it doesn't actually change what happens to the video. Assuming you left the I...

Initial review of the Hikvision DS-2CD2087G2-L(U) ColorVu 4K 8MP IP bullet camera.

Hello Alastair Let‘s assume that Andy Wong, as with Dahua, has a communication channel back to the Hikvision development team. Along with passing back our compliments from the Forum that this is a brilliant camera, I would suggest that you also ask him to request a firmware update for the most...

Initial review of the Hikvision DS-2CD2087G2-L(U) ColorVu 4K 8MP IP bullet camera.

Isn’t it just that Andy is not allowed to export Hikvision/Dahua branded cameras in competition with authorised national distributors?

Initial review of the Hikvision DS-2CD2087G2-L(U) ColorVu 4K 8MP IP bullet camera.

Hello again Alastair I‘ve only just found this thread and hadn’t realised you are reviewing this camera. Will you be posting more info to look out for? Motion test results would be good. Being unfamiliar with Hikvision, there are quite a few settings that I don’t know what they mean and I may...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

The picture quality of this Hikvision camera really is very good. It looks just as good in BI as in the camera GUI. The BI stats are not wrong (file size/duration check) and I'm not using h.265+. Stats extract below - Mycamera 1 (not yet named) is the Hikvision camera and Drive 1 is a 5442...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

Interesting reply spammenotinoz, thanks for that. Are you sure, it seems most unlikely. Remember that VBR and CBR give the same result. 1.6Mbit is a very very very low maximum number for 8MP, even using h.265. And, there are many similarities with Dahua cameras - they show the correct...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

Thanks for the reply Alastair. Please look again at the numbers - 100x not 10x. This is my first Hikvision camera and don’t know if there’s something else behind this. Another easy check for me to do by the way was to to look at the file sizes vs continuous recording time.

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

I’ve bought the 4mm version of this camera (from ljw2k, it was surplus to his requirements). I’m extremely pleased with it. To get the very best image quality possible, I‘ve used the ‘highest’ Video Quality setting with a constant bit rate of 16,384kbit/s (the maximum). However, with a...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

Good evening CCTVCam. Relaxing in the armchair this evening after a bottle of red, I’m picking up on your valid comment that ljw2k’s video at 1/175, 50% was less sharp than the one at 1/60, 50%. I have a theory. Could it be that this camera has an auto iris and when fixing the shutter at...

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

What excellent information CCTVCam! On my side, I would have to confess not to have googled for information - instead just spouting what seems right to me. There’s a string of links, some of which I’ve now read. I think my mental definition of ghosting has been too narrow and when broadened...
