    keep the cameras on there own network, fixed cable to the camera avoid using wifi cameras, high speed wifi bridges are a good way to link remote buildings. CHANGE ALL OF THE DEFAULT LOGIN DETAILS :-) using complex passwords :-)

    on any device you with to block from the Internet set the default gateway to 127.0.0.1 or a unused IP address on your network :-) this will stop the device connecting to anything outside of the local subnet :-)

    Oh i wish this was true, i have used it many times to gain access to a network even where the network is vlan'd :-) though domestic networks it normally easier to hack the router :-) its fun telling the IT manager how you accessed the network via the CCTV network :-) i mean who is going to walk...

    this may be less of a learning curve http://asuswrt.lostrealm.ca/ and you can jump in to iptables that will allow you to control incoming and out going traffic :-)

    get a NVR with a inbuilt POE switch, and connect the camera's dont connect the lan port to your network, get a wirless mouse or a usb over ethernet adapter and a vga/hdmi over cat5 adapter run two cables to where you wish to view the cameras. secure CCTV?

    Hit the nail firmly on the head :-) you could try the following in Google "youtube: setup vpn" with out quotes :-) strong password or even better password phrases, the biggest issue is secure VPN but week password and not using challenge and response 2factor ect but when you find secureVPNs...

    As yet Teamviewer only admit to a DOS attack, and i have not seen any proof they where hacked :-) time will tell. there was a fake java update would doing the rounds that would compromise Teamviewer users whitelists will protect against certern attacks, my post was not refering to the hack...
