    Hello from Cologne (near)...

What's with the dirty delete on your other thread after my most recent responses? https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/camera-plus-doorbell-and-possibly-loudspeaker-as-video-doorbell-replacement-possible.80564/#post-910643

Camera plus doorbell and possibly loudspeaker as video doorbell replacement possible?

You would get much better responses if you weren't so defensive about your position. You came with questions, maybe ill-worded, but questions none-the-less, and don't want to hear the feedback and answers to what you're asking. No one here cares what your mom owns or drives, it doesn't change...

No, and that was absolutely the reason for my post, which should have ended with ... to show it's non-serious nature.

Camera plus doorbell and possibly loudspeaker as video doorbell replacement possible?

Whoa, slow down there, big guy, he never mentioned any specific manufacturer for the technology, just, only, very specific model numbers that are in no way tied to a specific manufacturer.

DOGE .. Department of Government Efficiency was : who wants to work at DOGE ?

Doubtful this will happen, but if it does I expect anyone who has been complaining and criticizing the program to immediately reject and decline the offer of any funds from what has been saved.

The bullet still has adjustability, just a larger form factor than the turret.

    Old dog needs new tricks

T54IR and B54IR are nearly identical other than one is a turret and the other a bullet. The main difference is the bullet has additional IR LEDs and much more zoom.

Here are some captures, at various distances, for reference. T54IR-AS in 2.8mm at 11ft T54IR-ZE set to 12mm 40ft to the license plate. 75ft to the license plate. 40ft to the sidewalk. 25ft 18ft B52IR-Z12E-S2 set to ?? at 95ft. Color4K-T180 in 3.6mm at a distance of 175ft with the...

    Dash Cam?

I would much rather have audio enabled than a camera facing the cabin/driver when it comes to self-incrimination.

    Dash Cam?

I would agree with MPH recording, but still have mine on. I would disagree with in car audio for a couple reasons. If you were to be stopped, even though you can't see the officer, you still have the conversation recorded. This goes for any interaction with anyone. As long as there isn't too...

"I want 2.8mm cameras everywhere to see everything..." - This is why you need specific FOVs with purposeful focal lengths.

Edited with updated images/information from some of the copy/paste replies I have been giving when someone wants to do too much with one camera.

    Factor01's Update Thread

I had the 3541F-AS-M (2.8mm) installed at my front door and ended up switching it with a T54IR-AS. Once you taste the 54IR, you don't want anything else. Honestly, neither looks any worse or more out of place than the other. At night, the boobie needed IR, but the 54IR I run in color. When it...

    Dash Cam?

I had someone fail to yield at a roundabout and I smashed their B pillar in. My wife had an officer change lanes, into her lane, mid-turn, and she had to pass him to avoid collision. He pulled her over and she had to convince him he cut her off, mid-turn. I was on a jury for a trial where dash...

These captures taken from UI3. Quality would likely be better if taken directly from Blue Iris. 54IR-AS 2.8mm at 11' 54IR-ZE 12mm at 17-18' 54IR-ZE 12mm at 25'

The Importance of Focal Length over MP in camera selection

For reference, here are my front door 5442s. Height is about 9.5'. One is above the front door, the other is about 11' away. They are both 3.6mm. It depends on the person and what they're doing as to whether I can get a good face capture or not. I also have a 2.8mm next to the door, just...

The Importance of Focal Length over MP in camera selection

Keep in mind that you are not able to independently control the settings for each half of the 180. If one side has more light, and the other less, you may not be able to find a happy middle with the settings. I have struggled with my roof sky cameras where one lens sees light pollution and the...

Best current deal on 1000ft of Ethernet cable, RJ45 Connectors, and a crimper?

I use the same Truecable cable as linked above. I have also use Monoprice cable. No clue what crimper and stripper I have, but I am pretty sure I bought them at Menards. I know they're blue? haha

    Mailbox camera LPR

Someone in the Blue Iris group on FB made inserts to go inside of his PVC mailbox post that would allow him to place cameras inside. He was limited to fixed focal lengths, and couldn't really adjust them, but it's something. He made one for the end of the post, as well, to point back...

Camera placement and camera suggestion for new home

To comment directly on some points in your post. With your breaker panel being mounted on the exterior, and it being a point of concern, I would definitely place your NVR/VMS and camera POE switch on a battery backup. Even if you only have a few minutes of power, it gives you a buffer with your...

Camera placement and camera suggestion for new home

The mentality a lot of people have is they want to see everything, but when it comes time to use their capture as evidence, they lack the detail. It also doesn't help that most Box and Cloud systems will come with 2.8mm cameras and only exacerbate the problem. One camera cannot do it all...

Optimal height of camera for animal, pedestrian, driver & plate-vehicle ID

I guess more context/a better description would have been helpful. The only place, in the provided photo, that makes sense for cars to be driving is on the road beyond the treeline. You will also, likely, need separate cameras for all of the items you are looking to cover. (animals...
