Someone Steals Our Neighbor's Solar Lights

Next target of front yard thievery will be the ($75) Halloween/Holiday laser lights and the ($20) extension cords!

Whoops, not wearing a hoodie. Just lots of long, gray curl hair.

    This morning under our carport

Excellent advertisement for the HDW5231-Z! Pitch black environment. Possibly you could have tweaked your settings more effectively but still got quality face-recognition. Wearing a hoodie but he obliged by looking up and getting closer the Dahua! Money well spent.

I've researched but can't find Flashing/Strobe motion sensor LED flood

Has anyone come across a (outdoor mounted) motion sensor system which has a feature of 'strobing' instead of just lighting up? I wouldn't ask if I hadn't already researched a fair amount both on this site and internet in general. Talking about 1,000 lumen plus. Many thanks!

My footage helped put a bad guy behind bars!

Very nice neighborhood - from a criminal's point of view that area would seem like a target rich environment. Glad he was apprehended.

A package thief caught with her hand dipping in cookie jar

Hmmm, police won't pursue this incident. However there's a clear image of the plate which was just publicized. I bet that a local person already performed the research to determine the registered owner of that vehicle, complete with address, home value, taxes paid, etc. Then went to the...

Buddy catches guy going through his Jeep & driveway

Bold, non-sneaky is the MO of the experienced social engineer. Casual lighting of cigarette was part of the 'easy going' act, but the person walking on other side of street threw him off enough for him to depart before the job was done.

perhaps a little juice in your fence will help

When I read "instant justice" I had a feeling the video would show him slipping and then impaling his face on the pointy iron fence - bringing 1976 "The Omen" to mind. But, no he safely walked away with his bad boy messenger bag looking for lower hanging fruit.

Or put some placebo painkillers under the carpet and some Monopoly money - jackpot for any door checker zombie.

Dahua minidome catches guy casing house

Tygunn, the part of the post that got my attention was that yours is the only house on the street that doesn't have a vehicle(s) in the driveway! You safely tuck your vehicles into the closed/locked garage and leave nothing for the zombie door checkers! Does that mean you make room for your...

Homeowner restrains intruder with duct tape until police show up

Pants down... Some tactical reasons I suppose, and perhaps some humorous shaming - but guessing the summer New Mexico sun was grilling that driveway cement - and thoroughly TOASTING his boys.

Homeowner restrains intruder with duct tape until police show up

I'd guess it was her on the spot decision of getting between the suspect and the weapon. She likely considered the suspect in a physical position in which it was unlikely he would be able to exploit the split second vulnerability... combined with trusting her husband's judgment. She got right...

    Girl in trouble

You did everything right and made an excellent judgment call. Protect family/wife first. You responsibly monitored her with the PTZ. Wouldn't subject a sleepy wife to that situation - I wouldn't even subject a fully awake and fully armed ME to that situation. I know that's not a neighborly...

2 Thieves Caught in Act & at Gunpoint.

Why "what if" this guy? He acted quickly, decisively and effectively with a positive outcome. You can review any military action in a guerilla warfare environment and the amount of variables are endless. This particular show was similar to guerilla/rebel action in which citizens became...

2 Thieves Caught in Act & at Gunpoint.

erkme - excellent post. 100% agreement with your 1st paragraph - very refreshing 'take charge' attitude. Kind of like a "not on my watch" demeanor. Your other observations have merit and I'm glad that a best-case-scenario played out for the homeowner. Yes, homeowner probably saw their fear...

    Bear Mace vs. Thief

Shop owner looks to be very physically capable but instead of overpowering the aggressor with muscle (which would have been easy), the shop owner applies the correct amount of alternative force (bear mace) to remove the aggressor from his shop. Measured response = effective.

2 Thieves Caught in Act & at Gunpoint.

Great example of a very capable homeowner not only relying on camera/alert technology, but PHYSICALLY responding face-to-face with smart tactics. Calm, direct, effective.

    Dealership Wheel Theft

Much respect for the Police responding to the theft so quickly and apprehending the suspects... the restraint they used was incredible. The responding officers rushed into an unknown situation where the suspects could've been armed and dangerous. K-9 unit would've been excellent in this...

Cam catches thieves - makes me wish I bought better camera

That rules out a homeowner executing a chase down and collar of a door checker. Can imagine tackling punk in a side yard and him pleading "Leave me alone!!" Then hmm, now what? Like getting upset at squirrels swinging on your bird feeder... pointless.

Cam catches thieves - makes me wish I bought better camera

Drew, how often do you encounter situations where the homeowner physically apprehends (non lethal, no injuries) the suspects and holds them until LE arrives?
