Replaced 1080p TV with gaming monitor.

Interesting that you considered a touchscreen monitor... did you do the research on models and have one in mind before you decided against it? Did you already have a BI solution to deal with the touchscreen functionality of the TV? I've done various "touchscreen" searches on this site but...

Replaced 1080p TV with gaming monitor.

Thanks for sharing the pic! Appears there are 8 separate video feeds. 7 tiled plus 1 large. Can control/change which view is large while you are standing there in front of that tv or do you need to go back to the BI PC (or from your mobile device) to change the views? Thanks!

Does anyone out there have a nice, clean wall-mounted monitor dedicated to security cam viewing? Love to see a pic - to see how they integrated into their home.

    Mini Dome/Wedge Wiring Question

To create more space to tuck in the wires on the IPC-HDBW4231F-AS Starlight (or similar low profile cams), has anyone fashioned a wood block like 5" X 5" plywood into a donut shape and mount to that?

    Mini Dome/Wedge Wiring Question

I'm watching this thread because I'm interested in the IPC-HDBW4231F-AS Starlight as a front door (5 ft high mounted facial recognition) solution. Don't want to bust through the brick so I'll have to route and mount on the surface instead. Painting the cam/conduit/j-box to 'match' the brick...

With the help of this forum, it seems possible to put together a sensible, effective system - benefiting from lessons learned of smart folks. This site is a great resource - it probably is a thorn in the side of professional installers who lose business to D-I-Y types. .

Drunk - So you were feeling good about your q-see setup - then discovered this forum - inevitably felt your existing rig was ugly - convinced yourself to upgrade (cams, Dell system, POE switch, everything) - got everything tuned all to your liking - sat back and started feeling good about your...

Replaced 1080p TV with gaming monitor.

Just asked wife - where in the house would she want a central monitor dedicated to tiled camera views. She pointed to a spot in our kitchen about 5 feet up on the wall right next to the microwave. Pantry space is directly behind that wall. Network closet is 15-20 feet away from that wall...

    Initial $ outlay

Drunk P - appreciate that I'm over estimating. The installation threads and other Dahua threads seem to have nearly endless suggested additional hardware, equipment, gadgets, and networking tools (beyond the big ticket items) that pile on expenses. Understand that the cams themselves are $200...

    Initial $ outlay

After reading install (and other) threads and making notes of mistakes to avoid, lessons learned, preferred methods/configurations/equipment, and specific costs from the most reliable/highest quality providers - it seems reasonable to come up with a total initial outlay for an 8 camera Dahua...

Warning You Are Being Recorded - Decals/Signs

Oops - just looked at a Nayr-provided ACLU.org link and read that: In situations where you are an observer but not a part of the conversation, or in states where all parties to a conversation must consent to taping, the legality of taping will depend on whether the state's prohibition on taping...

Warning You Are Being Recorded - Decals/Signs

Fenderman, So in a one-party state, if your front door security camera (with microphone) video & audio records a couple individuals on your front porch talking about how they're going to do injury to your home and/or occupants as soon as someone opens the door (or for example, otherwise...

    Vehicle Problems

Strange to watch people so closely when they think no one is watching. I probably look suspicious at 4:30am when I'm taking the dogs out for their first poop of the day. I sometimes glance at neighbor's homes to see if I can detect security cameras - but I don't look too long/hard because then...

Very nice. Is that screen dedicated to security cam footage/viewing or multiple purpose? I see the mouse to the right. How far away is the NVR/PC?

    Trash Guy weirdness

tiger - read one of your posts which indicated that you entrenched cable and installed cameras mounted to some of your trees. If I understood your post correctly, it seems to be similar to what I plan to do. Can you share any photos of how you camo'd the conduit and cameras? Also, how deep...

    Repeated break ins to car

If the date/time stamps are accurate - none of these are weekends. These seem to be high school age boys. First 3 videos captured July/Aug so for a school kid every day/night is vacation time, but the last two were done during the school season (Monday morning 4:46am and Wednesday morning...

Please specify "Just be checking the doors they can charge him". Is that "Attempted Trespass" or "Attempted B&E"? Probably different from state to state, but interested to know the name of the specific charge.

    Cat 6 cable issue....

Jim, quick question. If you mount the camera up the trunk of a tree... do you run the cable up the tree in some kind of camo-conduit so it's not as detectable? I plan on doing something similar and want the cable and the camera to be as undetectable as possible.
