Hikvision DVR / IR light issue

You are looking in the wrong place. You have to check using the camera's OSD menu, if the camera allows to turn off the IR, it needs to be done on the camera. It has nothing to do with the DVR.

Which camera's for old Hikvision NVR from 2014?

It should. Years ago there were problems with some NVR firmwares that supported (like yours) 3MP and 5MP but did NOT support 4MP, were you had to turn down the resolution on 4MP cameras to 3MP. It might or might not be your case (later firmwares fixed that).

Adding Camera stream from 1 NVR to Another

Your bottleneck probably will be the maximum outgoing bandwidth. You need to check the specs on each NVR.

Adding Camera stream from 1 NVR to Another

I know you can add them using RTSP, that way you are connecting as a client. But you will not have motion detection, events, etc., just a video feed. If that is enough for you only for live viewing, go ahead! If you are going to run 40 NVRs (I guess many of them acting just as decoders) and god...

Adding Camera stream from 1 NVR to Another

You can't add a channel from a Hikvision NVR on another Hikvision NVR. Maybe you can find a camera model that allows more connections, or use a stream server that will broadcast as many times as you need that camera's stream.

Which camera's for old Hikvision NVR from 2014?

Any Hikvision camera will work. You just have to keep in mind the max resolution your NVR supports (5MP), and that you might have to switch the encoding on the new camera from H265 to H264.

Adding Camera stream from 1 NVR to Another

You need to add it using the IP/name/password of the camera, not the ones for the NVR. You have to connect the second NVR direct to the camera.

socat lets me connect from off-site directly to stream rtsp PLUS defeat 5 min limit

You can remove all the components from that equation, and just use the camera. You can open the web/RTSP ports on your router to one of those cameras, connect from the outside world to your public IP (using web interface or RTSP, whatever), and you will see there is no time limitation either...

    Hikvision - MicroSD card

You will need to try yourself. When Hikvision releases a new product, they will usually not update later those specs/information even if they update the hardware on the product. I have seen recorders support a bigger HDD than advertised, even by firmware updates or by a (B) revision on the...

Shortage Of Hikvision Playback on Remote.

Web interface will only allow you to download full files. So if you record 24/7 and have 1Gb files, that's all you can download. If you want to download from a given day/time to a given day/time, use iVMS-4200. I never used the lock file option, but I would also check if it can be done on...

socat lets me connect from off-site directly to stream rtsp PLUS defeat 5 min limit

I am not sure I follow you. But there is no 5 minute time limit when streaming to an external IP address. I can stream perfectly from remote Hikvision devices, be it on the web interface, or with VLC over the RTSP port. Never had a problem with IP and open ports; only seen that 5 minute time...

socat lets me connect from off-site directly to stream rtsp PLUS defeat 5 min limit

That's what I was saying on my previous post; there is no "evil 5 minute Hikvision rtsp stream time limit". At least having used hundreds of Hikvision IPCs and NVRs I have never seen it, I have only heard of that when using P2P.

socat lets me connect from off-site directly to stream rtsp PLUS defeat 5 min limit

I guess I didn't pay any attention to the "PLUS defeat 5 min limit" on the thread subject. That 300 sec limitation you are talking about; I think you are referring to what happens when you are live viewing using P2P/Hik-connect, with no open ports. Since the traffic gets sent through...

socat lets me connect from off-site directly to stream rtsp PLUS defeat 5 min limit

That is news to me, I didn't know newer firmwares restrict access on RTSP/web interface only to local subnet. What camera model and firmware version? Given your case and your tech knowledge, wouldn't it have been easier to just set up a VPN, so when away your IP is algo a local IP?

HIK NVR keeps dying. Are there alternatives?

I agree with @fenderman, the installers are lying to you. One unit fails you? You have been unlcuky. Three of them do? There has to be something else in there. I have units that have been running for many years. The HDD and the power supply is what might fail more often (HDD even more if you...

Newbie Turret cam feedback: LaView 8.3MP 4K vs Hikvision ECI-T24F6 vs LaView Saturn 4k 8MP

Your NVR might very well support 8MP cameras, you would need to check the specs. But since you already have a 8MP camera, you can check out what resolution it is working at to make sure, if it is recording at 8MP, your NVR supports 8MP. If you use a Hikvision camera, you might have to configure...

What is the difference between Hikvision NVR DS-7716NI-I4/16P and DS-7716NI-I4/16P(B) ?

The (B) versions are always newer. They might have or might not have any specs difference, but it will have a newer manufacturing date than their non (B) counterparts.

LTS (Hikvision) NVR & VLC: Can't see main stream via RTSP, only substream

Does it have HDD installed? If so, try to power it up with the HDD unplugged. Are you using the original power supply that came with the unit? It is 12VDC at how many amps? Try it with a different power supply that has the same amps. I put this the third, but for me it would be at the top; send...
