    Camera to watch over garden

Sadly you are stuck with only the settings in the app. And ONVIF Authentication is not in there. It's not really that big of a deal for what I'm using the camera for. The app sends you notifications of what time an alert came in. I can then go to BI under the camera timeline and see what it was.

    Camera to watch over garden

I'm still tinkering with getting the camera to send BI it's own ONVIF trigger events. I have it set up exactly the same way I have all my Andy cams set up in BI but a "GetEvents error 00002f78" shows up in BI. It actually switches back and forth from "GetEvents OK" and "GetEvents error...

    Camera to watch over garden

Yes you need the Tapo app to set up the camera. Once that's done you can find the IP address and block it in your router.

    Camera to watch over garden

I'd still like to get ONVIF triggers to work using MQTT and receiving them in Home assistant. When I check the "Get ONVIF trigger events" box and do the find/inspect, that all goes fine. I then check the "ONVIF/camera events" box under the trigger heading. When I go to configure, it shows an...

    Camera to watch over garden

I got the new camera installed out by the garden. I'm finding out that the on board motion detection is better than what BI can give me. I have tried all different levels on the motion sliders in BI and it just won't detect motion very far away. The on board motion can detect motion almost at...

    Camera to watch over garden

Update: Got the camara and learned a few things I didn't know. First of all it seems Tapo is kind of stingy when it comes to exposing its motion sensors......at least on this model. I tried adding it to my TP link smart home integration in Home assistant and it would only give you the switch...

    Camera to watch over garden

She was using motion sprinklers before. They were spendy too and one only lasted one season. Plus all the batteries. I personally didn't like the hoses sitting in the sun all summer. They would swell up from the water in there cooking. Plus when you went out to work in the garden you had to...

    Camera to watch over garden

Right......I don't want this camera as part of my main BI setup. Just something cheapo that I can use for three months out of the year. By posting a Reolink cam I was in no way saying it was a quality camera for my setup. I was saying my setup does not require a quality camera. I just need a...

    Camera to watch over garden

Well I found this cheapo Reolink cam and it's listed as a tested directly connected model in Home assistant. I figure I could just connect it to my guest network. https://www.amazon.com/Security-Security-2-4-Detection-Waterproof-RLC-510WA/dp/B08PYN7TS2?th=1 I really only need something that...

    Camera to watch over garden

Last year I used my skidsteer and pulled out all my landscape shrubs. I was sick of them looking like crap because of the deer. I have found that the dwarf Alberta spruce trees are very prickly and the deer don't touch them. As far as a fence that wouldn't look good because of the shape and...

    Camera to watch over garden

Garden season is coming up and this year I'd like to try something new. We have alot of deer roaming around the property and they love to destroy gardens. In the past I would drag hoses everywhere and connect them to motion sensor sprinklers to scare the deer away. The problem is the summer...

You must be in a pretty sweet spot in relation to the tower. I have been using TMHI since the early days. I jumped on their $25.00/month promo when it came out later and had two lines for awhile. I waited the appropriate amount of time and then cancelled my $50.00/month line. I love TMHI.

How to install when there is no attic?

I live in a manufactured home and ran all my CAT 6 cabling under the house in the crawl space and came up through the floor in a wall in one single location to my POE switch. My cameras are all soffit mounted. On the outside of the house I went through the foundation using liquid tight...

    Terminating ethernet cable (Oooops!)

I just finished two fiber optic runs to my shop and added four more cams out there. I'm using media converters to convert the fiber back to copper at both ends. The cams were all running fine so I moved on to adding my AP. I installed 23 AWG solid copper CAT6 for everything and terminated the...
