    US Elections (& Politics) :)

"According to data from USAspending.gov, the official source for federal spending information, the claim that USAID provided the $84 million in funding is also incorrect." But they went to the official source, and the "official" source wouldn't be wrong, would it?

Review - EmpireTech IPC-TPC124X-AI 1/2.7'' CMOS 4MP Thermal Network Mini Hybrid Eyeball Camera

What is the thermal calibration? I can't report on my camera because I don't spend any time close to it.

This is not an S3, is it?

As an added note, only the fixed focal S3s have the new mounting base. The S3 varifocal still has the old type base.

This is not an S3, is it?

And also by the mounting base. The S3 has the bigger diameter snap-in base, the old one the clamshell with the torx screw. S2 on the left, S3 on the right.

U.S. Postal Service will NO LONGER be accepting packages from China and Hong Kong

I wonder if this is going to kill the low cost stuff from china on ebay? The shipping is so cheap that I've thought that USPS must be losing money on it. SpeedPAK is an eBay shipping service developed specifically for cross-border deliveries originating from China. eBay has partnered with...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

I sent a form to the treasury for a savings bond registration name change. They at least sent an email that they received it, and it will take at least 20 weeks. It's very close to 30 weeks now.

    NVR Remote Access

For remote access I use Teamviewer remote desktop, so I can do anything remotely that can be done from home. Of course, the computer at home needs to be running. I use a laptop for for the remote client. There are smartphone clients but they're pretty tedious to work with.

    Watch this video carefully

I worked for 2 large corporations, and the quarterly employee rah rah meeting were the same thing. What really triggered me was the statements that the corporation must grow xx% per year. Many of the lower level grunts could see how after a enough years the company would be bigger than the...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

In a move that will make me wildly unpopular I want to stand up some for the IRS. Most of what we hate the IRS for is caused by congress, and the IRS is just administering their destructive nonsense. Congress uses the tax laws for its social engineering, and keeps piling new turds on top of...

    Funny / Satire

I'm afraid I might, too, in that situation. I can't imagine anything being more unexpected. Peanut was murdered by the government, and this one gets to run off scot free.

    Plane down in DC

I don't disagree, it's just that there are many plausible scenarios. The lady was likely controlling the stick, and for somebody without extensive in-type experience any little distraction like a sneeze, tuning the radio, checking position, fixating on a reading other than altitude, making a...

    Plane down in DC

They're saying that the lady pilot had 500 hours flying time. I wonder what the time in the actual helo was? Could it be 498 hours in fixed wing trainers, and 2 hours of helo time?

    Plane down in DC

Isn't that info from the CRJ's CVR? The one thing I noticed most is that the crash was exactly 30 seconds after they passed through 500' AGL, according to the automated voice alert.

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

One theory is that doing so much so fast doesn't give time for the fake news to lie about what's going on. By the time thy'er ready to publish their false reports, there's something new they have to report on instead. A type of denial of service attack on the fake news?

    Plane down in DC

At 17:37 in the above video he states that TCAS and ADSB use the aircraft's altimeter pressure (QNH) setting. I believe this is 100% incorrect.

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

An example of not happy is anybody who has done a Roth conversion. A few years ago I began to ask a tax lawyer a question, it started out as "If they don't change the tax laws....", at which point his laughing drowned out the rest of the question.

    Plane down in DC

The ATC radar altitude display is corrected for local barometric pressure so should match what the cockpit altimeter says. With a little more research I've learned that TCAS does not issue RAs in an aircraft under 1000' radar altitude, so it would have been out-of-play in the DCA accident. It...

bidens incredible transition to electric cars

I've tested it in our Subaru, and it seems to work, but I've not been willing to trust it. It follows too darn close for me even at its furthest distance setting. I didn't like the one time it slammed on the brakes with absolutely nothing in front of me on the road. Had somebody been on my...

"Data from the jet’s flight recorder showed its altitude as 325 feet (99 meters), plus or minus 25 feet (7.6 meters), when the crash happened Wednesday night, National Transportation Safety Board officials told reporters. Data in the control tower, though, showed the Black Hawk helicopter at 200...

    Dahua model number decoder?

This is probably partially obsolete by now but could still be of some help. The models #s don't help with the low light aspect. You need to look at the illumination specs and sensor specs for that.
