Too true and good old CBX is doing very nicely from it, as is a few others, supplying firmware that has a MAC code lock down so the Chinese don't want to share it as it points to who it was given too..
Shame as its so easy to by pass the MAC lock down.
With theses camera's and their age, the mtd hack will make your old models fully English. you can then upgrade to what ever version you want even the latest English ones.

the echo will only respond with a clear path to the tftp and any delay, firewall / pack check will prevent the tftp to respond. it's a simple process and normally something simple in the setup stops it from working.
especially on older firmware builds.
