    Your camera and the PC need to be connected together via a network switch, if its not a POE switch you will need a 12v Power supply for the camera. Also make sure that you gave tftp netwok access or it wont work either.

    After a like bit of playing with a bricked 3410 (Chinese cube) which was MTD hacked by CBX Originally. It was working on 5.20 which I upgraded to 5.30 all still good, then up to 5.40 then bricked being a XXX0 I thought a bit more was needed to recover, but thanks to @alastairstevenson his v2...

    no portforward is wise. but damage can be reduced by walls and rules with mac address control.

    This is so true, in the UK there are now only 5 suppliers of Hikvision (official). These are trade only. Now the reason behind this was to keep the available models as trade. now a lot of people have thrown their toys out of their prams over this, but again this was not about stopping people...

    These are just Onvif and would be supported on most nvr's but you get what you pay for.

    Don't just rush in upgrading the firmware, take a little time to understand what the base firmware was. This plays a big part in the upgrading process.

    As Alistair has said it's poor installation, the foam ring, or IR reflection from condensation. either way your getting up to the camera.

    Using a joint box 1st is ugly as F#@k and 2nd not secure. If you doing build works cut a 50mm x50mm hole out, this will allow for the cat5 connector to sit behind the camera and not hinder the fixing of the camera, then using a small bit of sealant around the ipc to stay dry. Cables don't move...

    There is always a point when the camera can't focus on the zoom, this is down to the lens size and not a focusing fault, you just have to back up a little to regain the focus.

    I've got one that does the same, even a firmware change has not fix this issue, now have it on a 12v power supply, it still does it but not so often.

    No quite true, but they are cheaper, than the darkfighter models. both a good quality professional products, I would stay clear of Control4 system though but that's more of a personal choice.

    You should look at a 150w solar kit and use a normal IP camera with wifi, and a good utility battery
