Has anyone managed to figure out how to get these Dahua SMD/TiOC cameras to not detect animals? especially larger dogs?

Min size is an issue for larger animals and detection at a distance.

The most reliable settings I have found is IVS rules using Inside, Sensitivity 3, min duration 2 seconds. Even then I still get the odd false alert.

Cheers.

Yes SMD+MD off. I use sens 10.

This

Use IVS only. Though I run mine at 10 sens. I rarely get a critter. Maybe 1 every two months

I thought sensitivity 10 was the highest and would give more false alerts?

I was also under the impression that SMD has no bearing on what IVS does so didn't like disabling it would matter.

My issue is more with larger dogs or cats not so much smaller animals like birds etc.

Cheers.

SMD is another AI tool. No it has no bearing on IVS.

They do similar things and IVS is wayyy better.

If you are running SMD and getting lots of false alerts it’s likely because of SMD

You essentially have two AI systems running simultaneously and one, SMD, is inferior and creating your stated problem . Recommend you turn it off .

Is IVS perfect via telepathy? No. It requires some thought for implementation and use. But it’s light years ahead of SMD

Ah yes I only run IVS but usually have SMD enabled along side it so I can go back and search things outside of the IVS zones.

E.g. something happenes on the street I can use SMD to search for a human or vehicle outside of the IVS intrusion zone.

But no I'm not expecting SMD to be more reliable than IVS.

My issue with IVS is the larger animals like dogs and cats, haven't been able to find the right mix of settings to completely eliminate the false alerts.

I did get a 5 series camera and you can "teach" it to ignore certain thing using the experience database. That works extremely well. But it's also 2-3 times the price for a black and white no active deterrent camera so it's a hard sell for clients.

SMD 4.0 says it has a 99% accuracy for false alerts and I'm failing to see how these 3 series are even nearly close.

Cheers.

Ahh could be, I only have one 3 series, the 3449 Tioc Pro and it works great with IVS at max sens and no SMD enabled. Cats, coons and the occasional Fox have not tripped it yet.
I dont use the circus lights or siren, I suspect most clients wont either after a week. But the Smart Illumination is great!

Not possible the problem is maybe IVS settings made on the NVR vs the camera?
I use IVS with a lot of the higher end 5442's and some 4K's and some SD6 PTZ's, but do not have or use the experience database.

As mentioned I run all of my IVS at max sens and have very, very few false alert issues with Human or Vehicle filters, and do not run SMD on any of them. SMD just sends or records too much crap for me.
I just dont see many IVS false alerts on critters. Guess I should stay away from the cheap 2 and 3 series

IPC-HDW5842TM-SE-S2 with the experience database is good! But hard to justify for the price.

No im not using the detection via the NVR I'm using the camera to do the IVS rules.

All these cameras seem to run the same IVS version, not sure what the R means? maybe revision? but they all seem to run fundamentally the same version V2.008

Even the 5 series seems to have the same version.
