Hello! Back again for more questions. Most likely, I will buy some cheap(er) PC for a BI server. I was wondering firstly, if I plug the cameras directly into the computer using a POE switch or if I plug the switch into the network.. Secondly, I was wondering the ideal components for a BI pc server within a somewhat reasonable price. Im probably not going to be running more than 10 cameras, maybe 5-7 cameras

edit: just realized there is a wiki section, feel free to still post suggestions

Best practice is to not have your cameras on your network or going thru the router.

It is best to buy another ethernet card and put all the cameras on one port on a different IP subnet and then the internet on another port.

You can run 30+ cameras on a 4th gen. If you can get one cheap or one laying around use it. Otherwise the recommendation would be 8th Gen or newer so you can run Win 11 on it.

Personally, I wouldn't buy anything below an I5-8500 machine.
Lots of good deals on them.
