Hi - I have a Lorex system right now and have two EmpireTech cameras but considering my home network is now on Unifi. I am wondering if I should swap out the Lorex system for Unifi.

Thoughts? I was thinking of the G5 line or the new AI line possibly, but am finding it difficult to find information on what cameras from Unifi would be equivalent to like Lorex/Dahua/etc. - clearly I think those companies have the edge on camera quality/price but the apps/software/experience on Unifi I believe is far superior. Unless I can get Blue Iris to be able to supplement the existing Lorex app/experience instead.

Thanks!

What exactly is it that your current Lorex is not doing for you that you feel certain that the Unifi WILL do for you and that you must have?

I think it's primarily the user experience with the software/app to be able to capture all events in a more user friendly way. Plus, my NVR right now has 8 slots but I need to install another 8 cameras. The NVR system I have is the Lorex Fusion, so I know I can add to my switch and then still use the 16 channel components it has.

Was just thinking if wit another 8 cameras to go if it's best to make a move to Unifi. Or another thought I had was leave the PTZ camera on Lorex and use the rest for Unifi. Just thinking it through if Unifi releases any new cameras that are better or more comprable.

The AI auto capture features of Unifi seem more appealing as well.

So the Lorex NVR is a 16 channel with 8 channels in use?
