budget IP POE license plate camera?

Hi, Currently I'm using this camera to capture the license plate on my driveway and it work fine. IPC-B5442E-Z4E . But the playback is not so good. and when download it save them as .dav. is there a more better one along that price range where I can download it .mp4 or something? thank you

That and the Z12E are as budget as they get, but they are both the same experience. It has been a while, but I thought you could save as mp4 also.

You are better off to invest in an NVR or windows computer with Blue Iris that will give you better playback capabilities.

thank you.. so no other camera that does LPR in that range that can save .mp4. ok thank you. I guess i gotta live with it.. thank you will purchase another one..

It's not only having a .mp4 file, but a codec that understands what's in the .mp4 container. I can export .mp4 files, but my Windows version can't play them. It's possible to add codecs to windows if you find the right one. I need to save videos so seldom that I just convert from .dav to .mp4 with Handbrake. For just occasional viewing of .dav, the Dahua Smart Player does the job good enough for me. If you need to only save a still frame or two, you can run the video in Smart Player, pause where you want, then use the snipping tool to get a .jpg.

That camera will indeed download mp4 as will any Dahua NVR . And when you say playback is not so good, you’re doing something g wrong, can you explain further? That’s a great camera for LPR
