I'm trying to prep a property so that the new resident can install cameras without any networking knowledge or tools. I've run Cat5e to 4 different outdoor camera sites, and I want to terminate them with RJ45 plugs and the corresponding cable glands, so they can just buy a camera and plug it in.
But I also want to protect that RJ45 plug from the elements until the installation happens which might be next month or next year or ????
After sitting on my brains for awhile, the solution was simple! I have a bunch of dead cameras lying around, and I can clip off the RJ45 jack:
It's a perfect mate for the RJ45 plug and gland, and it's waterproof.
But at some point I'm going to run out of dead cameras.
Is there a good, cheap source for these jacks? I see camera pigtails on aliexpress for $2 - $5 apiece plus shipping, but I don't need the whole pigtail. I need just the RJ45 piece. Amazon doesn't show anything.
