Having the list of firmwares on the website this is a big improvement on what was before - basically this thread and others.
Many of the firmwares listed do have release notes, so someone is trying to be systematic.
The latest firmware for this camera family is over a year old, but it seems to...

Reverting the firmware does not seem to restore the device type.
@EMPIRETECANDY ... WTF?? No version notes, no versions history, known buggy...
All I can say is that I installed it and it's working as before - so no major disasters. But, yes, each new firmware version should have release notes. @EMPIRETECANDY ?
Is this the case here? I assume the dav files are not streamed but simply copied when they are complete. No?
I'm thinking there may be a problem if the destination storage needs time to wake/spin up and the camera doesn't handle that well.

In my experience the processor in this camera can't handle all the video options that are selectable. For one thing I think it struggles with H265 which has better compression than H264 but needs more processing.
Overall I believe this camera has good optics but the processor and firmware...
FYI for anyone looking for the latest Dahua firmware for this camera you can download it using this link. I have been using it for a month or so and see no regressions from previous versions...
Thank you, guys. It detected the trash truck this morning after setting "Anti-Disturb Enable" to Off. This was the highlight of my week!
