Hikvision Storage Server suddenly only has 2-3 days of history instead of the usual 8 days!

Great to hear! Was there one thing in the setup that was the problem? The FTP is more involved on the PC part than the camera part. I set this up years ago, so I might be missing something. First, the PC that the pics are FTP'ed to, should have a static local IP address. Probably not a...

Hikvision Storage Server suddenly only has 2-3 days of history instead of the usual 8 days!

I don't want to go past version 2.7 since I suspect it will be more taxing to my PC, and it works fine. The FTP setup is done from the Camera settings side, not the Storage Server. It is possible you might have to set this alarm trigger, shown below, on the camera side as part of the setup...

Hikvision Storage Server suddenly only has 2-3 days of history instead of the usual 8 days!

This is how my version looks. I am on Version 2.7.1.4. I blocked out a bit too much with the paper in pic 2. The first column has "Trigger Alarm Output" checked, and the second column has "Trigger Recording" checked, probably both pretty important.

Hikvision Storage Server suddenly only has 2-3 days of history instead of the usual 8 days!

On Storage Server settings, I chose Event Template from the drop down list. This does 24x7 Event recording. Under Advanced setting choose your pre and post event recording padding times. Then, go to the Event Management Tab. Under that, the Camera Event Tab. Select Event Type = Motion...

Hikvision Storage Server suddenly only has 2-3 days of history instead of the usual 8 days!

The files have the initialization date and time on them until they get fresh video in them, then the dates change. One by one they will get the timestamp of when they were recorded. So, yes, eventually almost all of the files have different timestamps on them. You can use the timestamps to...

Hikvision Storage Server suddenly only has 2-3 days of history instead of the usual 8 days!

Because of my particular setup, I have need for 24x7 recording, as I don't want to risk missing something that motion detection missed. So, I've never experimented with anything other than 24x7. I have things working so well that I don't want to screw it up playing around with those...

Hikvision Storage Server suddenly only has 2-3 days of history instead of the usual 8 days!

I'm far from an expert on this, but based on observation, I have concluded this. When you first assign the Storage Server to store to a designated hard drive partition, it allocates many hikxxxx.mp4 files on the drive, as many as it needs to hold the amount of days you have set it to store, or...

Hikvision Storage Server suddenly only has 2-3 days of history instead of the usual 8 days!

Responding to my own problem as it looks to be resolved. I took so many actions that it is hard to say which one, or ones, did the trick. I upgraded iVMS-4200 to Version 2.7.1.4 (from 2.6.x). I reformatted the dedicated hard drive, and recreated the storage schedule of 24x7 recording...

Hikvision Storage Server suddenly only has 2-3 days of history instead of the usual 8 days!

Can anyone help me understand what is happening with my sudden shortened archive of Hikvision cam video on my Storage Server. I have a dedicated physical 1TB hard drive on my Windows 10 PC configured to be only used by the Hikvision Storage Server. For at least the last 3 years, I have barely...

What type of IR light works best with DS-2CD2432F-IW? 940nm?

I am using the camera through a window and I have read that IR will not travel through glass (and its too far away anyway), so I have it turned off on the camera setting. The night time picture is acceptable considering the amount of light from street lamps, but I want to improve the picture...

What type of IR light works best with DS-2CD2432F-IW? 940nm?

I am planning to purchase an additional IR light for use with my DS-2CD2432F-IW camera. I have read that some wavelengths do not work well with some cameras. For the DS-2CD2432F-IW does it work best with 940nm IR light? I looked in the specs for the camera and I see nothing on this.
