Looking for POE pan/tilt under $100

Nah, they've got pictures. You just go to the web page and click. More accurately called "smart" switches. We're not talking VLANs and all that. I'm sure someone's neighbors kid is great with computers and could deal with it for them if ever needed... If not, they'll someday be paying for...

Looking for POE pan/tilt under $100

I'll pass that along, thank you. If they buy some, I'll see about doing a comparison between them and the cheap Amcrest. I'm sure the Dahua's are better, but how much would be worth knowing. Sometimes you just need "good enough", sometimes you need more. Any idea if this Amcrest is the same...

Looking for POE pan/tilt under $100

I hadn't, but sort of the same thing. With active POE and a managed switch you can power cycle the camera (phone, AP, tablet, whatever) remotely. Which is usually the first step tech support is gonna ask you, "Did you turn it off and back on?" Without a managed switch controlling POE you have...

Looking for POE pan/tilt under $100

You can't see the indicator lights, so troubleshooting a problem requires someone with a ladder instead of someone with a cell phone camera on the floor. More effort to troubleshoot = higher maintenance costs. While the church has free labor TODAY, that guy might not be there in 2 years. And...

Looking for POE pan/tilt under $100

Yes. Optical zoom would be a useful bonus. The number of times I've tried and failed to read a Comcast error code on a TV from a camera across the room... That's not my call, but my suggestion to the person making that decision will be to wait until they're back in stock if I can't find a...

Looking for POE pan/tilt under $100

Thank you for the suggestion. These will be going in a public (church) space and there's no practical way to make a POE splitter look nice. (Especially a black splitter against a white drop ceiling!) They're also a point of failure, and obvious enough to someone from a distance it'll give folks...

Looking for POE pan/tilt under $100

I've been happy with the Amcrest IP2M-841E : https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B01H2JSC6U Unfortunately they're out of stock. Can anyone recommend a POE pan/tilt w/ mic under $100?

    Blue Iris UI3

I've been fiddling with BI, STunnel, and a CloudFlare free plan, with "full" but not "strict" proxy settings. When connecting directly, Cloudflare set to DNS only, no proxy, things work fine. When connecting via CloudFlare's proxy, sometimes it just hangs when signing in/out "redirecting"...

    BI New camera limit

For whatever reason, the NVidia decoder in v4 can handle a lot more cameras than the decoder in v5. Trying out a few different video cards, I couldn't find a pattern to it. Didn't seem related to memory or GPU. I eventually gave up and threw bigger computers at it and used the overloaded ones...

    BI New camera limit

I never had the problem in BI4. After upgrading to BI5, systems that had a few dozen cameras on Nvidia couldn't handle more than 7 or 12 or whatever depending on the card. I even tried upgrading to newer/higher RAM cards. Ken confirmed he changed the decoder between v4 and v5 and said the lower...

    BI New camera limit

BI5 broke Nvidia hardware acceleration. I've seen the same behavior on multiple systems and NVidia GPUs. Systems that could do a couple dozen cameras on v4 would behave like you're describing on v5 with a half dozen. Ken (the Blue Iris developer) said that he switched to newer codecs and it was...

What do you use to remotely connect to your Blue Iris PC?

https://www.splashtop.com/personal Handles video pretty well, and isn't overly expensive.

    BlueIris: Record to NAS issues

Correct, it isn't a Blue Iris problem. You can go back as far as you can Google, 20, 30 years ago, and you'll find people having this same issue. Not just with NAS boxes, but with Windows computers and servers too. It's also not a Windows problem. Like many Windows "problems" this is a working...

    BlueIris: Record to NAS issues

The username and password need to be an exact match. They cannot be different.

    BlueIris: Record to NAS issues

The key to the problem you ran into there was "mapped drive". Don't map a drive. Just put in the UNC path. "\\SERVER\Blue Iris 1" for example. You can browse to the share in Explorer and then just copy and paste it if it's easier that way. As long as the Blue Iris service is set to log on using...
