*** You go Hang Zhou! *** [R6 camera (DS-2CD2x42) firmware encoding method]

I don't know why they even bother, I'm sick of the way they separate out the market by region coding cameras and mandating Chinese market cameras to Chinese only. Buying genuine hikvision products from correct region is almost impossible in some countries not to mention also expensive. Just take...

    IPD R7 5.4.0 SSH-enabled firmware, PSH disabled

Just an idea regarding psh, has anyone tried command injection using semicolons after the psh command to send raw commands to bash? eg. using the ping command within psh you could do: ping 192.168.1.1;bash_command_here;another_command -x some_parms or even this: ping 192.168.1.1;killall psh...

*** You go Hang Zhou! *** [R6 camera (DS-2CD2x42) firmware encoding method]

Mr. Xuefeng is actually Xue Feng, or Mr Xue. Family names in China are written first, according to my wife who comes from Guangzhou. The sellers on aliexpress using "hacked to english" firmware sometimes post files on the Chinese equivalent of dropbox at http://pan.baidu.com/. Use the search...

    5.4.0 firmware for EN/US R6 (2x42) cameras. SSH re-enabled. PSH disabled

Can you also not just use scp over ssh? I usually just use scp to copy files/folders between linux devices/machines with ssh enabled. Grab yourself a copy of ubuntu and use that to scp files, its far easier than messing around with cifs shares on windows etc... eg: scp ./filename...

Warning about new Goolink app update on iOS

I've also noticed the app has been pulled from the App Store, well at least in my country it has - NZ. Not sure about US? However it would be much appreciated if someone who still has the older version could make a backup of their iOS device in iTunes and post a copy of the ipa file, then myself...

Just a word of warning regarding the new version of Goolink released just recently, I cant remember the version number but its the most recent update as of this posting. I received a pop up last night on my iphone asking me to update, so I did, big mistake! Not only did it wipe all of my...

Hikvision FIRMWARE TOOLS - change language, extract files and create own firmware

You can't easily change the language flag unless the fw version is <= 5.3.0 or you have the private key used to sign the firmware. An exception is de-soldering the flash as mentioned previously and accessing it directly using an adapter.

Hikvision FIRMWARE TOOLS - change language, extract files and create own firmware

Won't work because the newer firmware > 5.3 is signed and will be rejected by web upgrade form and also u-boot if you try flashing via tftp

Hikvision FIRMWARE TOOLS - change language, extract files and create own firmware

Telnet/SSH was disabled in the newer firmware, the only way known to me to regain this functionality is to use a uart adapter connected to the 4pin ttl header on pcb, but even then you are still locked into a limited console with no full shell/busybox access, hence no access to filesystem. For...

Request sent to Hikvison to supply GPL'd source code

It's my first time posting here, have been reading these forms on and off lately after getting my hands on some Chinese Hikvison gear. I have worked a lot with customizing OpenWrt for our companies products. I have sent a request to Hikvison requesting source code, with this it should be...
