Got it -- so... NAS For now until I rewire the cameras to the PoE switch...
Is there a good bandwidth calculator out there that can sum up bandwidth requirements for an NVR x X cameras on a single LAN?
The interesting part is that nothing is on DHCP and ONLY when I plug the NVR in does everything cease to work effectively...I never record on continuous mode, so appears that something else may be happening here.
Hi All,
In my hellish journey to make this NVR work (see: Hikvision DS-7108NI-E1 NVR turn off or disable wifi) I finally got the unit upgraded to current firmware, changed from router to AP, disabled any/all wireless, upgraded the HDD to 1TB WD RED SSD, and plugged into my network.
The NVR...
BACKGROUND/PROBLEM: In case anyone else thinks this may be helpful, I solved my own problem, which is that I have an existing wireless network and I do not want the NVR to either act as a router or an AP. Initially, I upgraded the firmware to version V3.4.80 build 160817, which enables setting...
Anyone know how I can turn off or disable wifi on the Hikvision DS-7108NI-E1 NVR?
I managed to finally upgrade the firmware to latest to get it out of router mode, so I can actually log into the damned thing, but there's no option to disable the wifi radio, only set the AP details.

thanks for the quick reply!
the camera literally just stopped working one day (it was in active use) and I could not find it again via SADP. It was purchased hikvision sealed new (not whitelabel/OEM).
I will try the last firmware ... if that doesn't work... to eBay it goes for parts! thanks!
ok, I got this far... where the latest firmware for this DS-2CD2542FWD-IWS (mfg 4/2018) (firmware v. 5.5.82) finally updated and reboot:
setenv ipaddr 192.168.1.200
setenv serverip 192.168.1.232
setenv gatewayip 192.168.1.1
HKVS # update
'update' is a ambiguous command! Exec the shortest...
great thread.... i managed to connect via serial console to the camera... a presumably bricked DS-2CD2542FWD-IWS that won't show up in SADP and won't hit the hikvision TFTP even when direct connected...
PuTTY only shows me this gibberish... did I miswire the serial ? I followed all serial cable...
