    Blue iris and plex

    I run BI and Plex on the same box (Optiplex 7010 SFF with I7 - forgot the CPU model). I only run 2 Amcrest ProHD wifi cameras on this. One running 10FPS and one running 15FPS. And all my video files are h.265, so Plex has to transcode to send to my Tivo's. I can easily stream 2 movies thru Plex.

    I emailed BI about this happening, it seems the value for the auto FPS is a high water mark value of what it detected, not exactly what it's currently receiving. Try setting your camera to 10FPS, then "set" that in BI as well. Then increase the FPS in the camera to 15FPS. BI should "auto" up...

    it is kind of weird. Now that I have a camera setup to monitor my front door walkway, I notice about half of my deliveries - the person doesn't ring the bell. And it's not like they have to walk farther, they're already in the same area as the button.

    I could have sworn that's a setting in BI, where if you're using RDP, it uses a lower refresh rate for the video, but you could change it. I think I read that implication in another post. I get an unable to open file once in a while, and if I just wait or reboot, it works.

    the other pro to Blue Iris vs a dedicated NVR, one less device if you already have a beefy enough workstation that's on 24/7. I already had a media PC, so I upgraded that to a new one with a CPU beefy enough to handle my torrents, Plex Server, a Win7 virtual machine, as well as Blue Iris.
