Give it a go! just upgrade to 5.3 first in case you messed up. You can always unbrick it back to 5.2.5. Its what happened to me. I messed up one, but was able to go back and fix it -

You cant just upgrade it with a firmware file. You have to hex edit the mtdblock files according to the directions in that post. Its quite a learning curve if you never used a hex editor before. I watched a few youtube videos before I attempted it. Also need knowledge with ssh commands etc....
