BI does not provide a remote cloud connector like ispy. You can do the same like on BI and use your own VPN solution, what i would recommend anyway.
But then you also stuck with the webinteface. Last time i tested it the ispy app only worked with a (paid) cloud connector.

Zoneminder does not come with a fancy gui like BI. But i´ve you´re into ansible or similar deployment tool, then you´re in the right spot.

thats depends your the system. Like Bosch, Netamo, Unifi,.. will still take local recordings and, "only" the cloud management and notifications are gone.

ai-vision is a more advanced solution and with a few VS basics relatively easy to integrate into BI. But it is a relatively expensive solution if you do not use it for specific tasks (e.g. occupational safety).
