I don't do camera systems for a living but I have been doing them since the cameras had vidicon tubes in them. I've even repaired quite a few of them. I'm a tech consultant for a manufacturing plant now and handle all of the IT, control systems, and all of the facilities and electronics there...
yes, it's a crappy system no doubt. Her son installed it for her and I'm thinking he put a low dollar system in her house because she's on a limited income. She asked me to copy the videos to a flash drive for the police. I posted this because I bet most of the people with home NVRs don't...
I agree, one of those NVRs with a tiny circuitboard in a little enclosure, it was set at the highest frame rate and quality.
Her son installed it a few years ago.
Have you ever worked with an NVR that captured gunshots at night? Since then I wonder how good the exported videos are on a good...
Just a FYI, last year a friend of mine had 2 drive by shootings across the street from her house. When watching the play back video on the NVR you can easily see the flashes from the guns. However when I exported the videos the flashes didn't show up. This was a Night Owl NVR which I think is...
I'm no programmer but I have been using Zoneminder since 2005. I used to install DVRs & NVRs and I still prefer Zoneminder over them for myself. The versions in last few years work very well and are super easy to install. I have a Clonezilla image with Ubuntu server and defaulted Zoneminder...
Zoneminder uses percentages or pixel count for zone settings. This can screw you if you have min/max settings like 15% min 75% max and someone opens a door that lets in light that goes over 75% Zoneminder will not record that event.
I've had that happen on a cpl of occasions in the past so I try...
I've been using Zoneminder since 2005. And as most people will tell you it has not been "Plug&Play"
I've been updating a few of my Zoneminder systems to the latest stable VERs.
It was so easy I thought I'd do a post on it.
The 1.34.xx vers really surprised me with the very low CPU usage and WAY...
I've been following this thread for a cpl of years. I started using Zoneminder in 2005.
I still use it for small systems for one reason. The time line view. VERY hard to beat
Zoneminder's version of it. The fact that it uses a standard browser with out plugins
is nice too.
Another thing I...
