Switching from VPN to Port Forwarding.

Upon checking again, you are correct about the latest firmware version for the RT-AC86U. I re-checked which firmware I had downloaded yesterday. It was the RT-AX86 Series_3.0.0.4_388_24231. Just now, I went here...

Switching from VPN to Port Forwarding.

How do I generate a new certificate? I don't remember how I did it in 2018. I also saw this on how to update new firmware. I might try it if it looks like it's not going to need a factory reset of the router. https://www.asus.com/support/faq/1030652/ But I'm not sure updating the firmware...

Switching from VPN to Port Forwarding.

I can't update my router's firmware. If I tell it to check for updates, it says it can't connect to the Asus server. If I manually download the firmware and try uploading it from the manual firm upgrade screen, it says the update is unsuccessful. Do I need to change any VPN settings on my...

Switching from VPN to Port Forwarding.

I had a VPN set up for my cameras since 2018. However, recently OpenVPN has recently complained that the HMAC Authentication wasn't secure enough. I tried changing it from SHA1 to SHA256, but same error, after exporting the new .opvn file. Next, I tried configuring port forwarding. I did it...

    Two way audio.

Thank you. It looks like I need to get a different model next time. Is there a varifocal model? That one is a fixed lens.

    Two way audio.

I have a Dahua NVR5416-16P-4KS2 NVR and Dahua 5231R-ZE cameras. Is it possible to install or configure two-way audio, so that I can talk, and have it outputted through one of the camera's microphones? I'm thinking of having audio sent back to the front door camera. Ideally I'd launch the...

    NVR5416-16P-4KS2E and Smart PSS help.

I went to System-->Upgrade. It says System version 3.215.0000001.0. Build Date 2018-03-26. As for the issues earlier in this thread, I ended up using a powered HDMI splitter. So the downstairs TV and upstairs TV have the same video output. I can control the TV downstairs with the mouse, by...

Any preferred source for UPS for BI PC/PoE Switch?

This was suggested to me when I was looking at getting a UPS, last year, to get a Kill-A-Watt. https://www.amazon.com/P3-P4400-Electricity-Usage-Monitor/dp/B00009MDBU You an also find it at some hardware stores. I got it, and plugged everything that I was going to eventually plug into the...

Any preferred source for UPS for BI PC/PoE Switch?

My mistake. I looked at the rating for this Pro Desk, and it said 320 watts. HP ProDesk 600 G1 Tower PC Product Specifications | HP® Customer Support I don't know if this is the one @cam26 has, but I thought it might be close. If the actual one @cam26 has is different, and uses what you...

Any preferred source for UPS for BI PC/PoE Switch?

Somehow I missed the equipment you listed, when I posted a few minutes ago. Seeing the power usage of a HP Prodesk, I think you would get 5 - 7 minutes of runtime. If that's ok, then you can get the 850 VA / 510 W model. CP850PFCLCD - PFC Sinewave UPS Series - Product Details, Specs...

Any preferred source for UPS for BI PC/PoE Switch?

Thanks. And can you list the equipment you will want backed up by that?

Any preferred source for UPS for BI PC/PoE Switch?

What's the max watts of all of your stuff that's plugged into the UPS? I think you would be ok, but the answer to this is important. What model UPS are you considering?

    VPN Primer for Noobs

I was still unable to access the VPN from another internet service. I called Asus today, to see how their support was. Since I had an Asus router, and Asus DDNS, I figured they should help. When logging into my router, on the OpenVPN page, I saw a message in yellow letters next to "Export...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Thanks, I'll look into setting up Team Viewer next time. I've tested the VPN and DDNS several times since July. So I know it was set up correctly. This is the first time it hasn't worked. If the IP changed, isn't the DDNS supposed to be able to handle that?

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Thanks. While it's a little frustrating right now because I actually wanted to check my cameras; I wasn't just trying to log into the VPN to test out the connection, the fact that the solution might be a simple reboot is comforting. It's better than having to spend hours to find the solution...
