    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

I noticed that in some screenshots for other NVRs, there is a display of bitrates of all the cameras in unused channels like this one at the bottom 4: I don't seem to be able to find a setting for it in 5216. So is it possible to do the same in 5216 rather than the Dahua logos?

The IVS features work fine with H.265 in 5231.

If I have security cameras, do I still need a Ring Doorbell?

The whole point of answering the doorbell in real time is to give the impression that your ARE home - tell the person that you are busy and cannot come to the door, or not interested in whatever excuses they came up with on ringing your door. So yes, the 2 way audio is the main reason I...

P2P stopped working using cellular network

My initially thought was that it was related to cell phone network access, but actually, it did not work anywhere outside my home wifi network using P2P. And it was caused by a bug in the iDMSS App. They just released 3.51.001 today to fix this bug. Updated the App, and the problem is gone.

IDMSS Lite - App Not Working

Just realized that they released v3.51.001 today to fix this bug. Update the App in App Store and it now works using P2P again.

IDMSS Lite - App Not Working

Are you using P2P to access your NVR? My guess is that you are using VPN to access yours? My iDMSS Plus has stopped working when using P2P. I made a post in the NVR forum - initially I thought it was related to using cell phone data network, but now I realize it would not work anywhere...

P2P stopped working using cellular network

I have NVR 5216-16P-4KS2 and have been using iDMSS on my iPhone successfully with both P2P and VPN connection for the past few months. In the past few days, I was not able to access the video using P2P when on LTE data. Strangely, the P2P works fine when using my home WiFi, but once I turned...

where to place / hide NVR?

I think it is much simpler if you make sure that you select an IP cam with microSD card feature, and just put an endurance microSD in each cam as a backup. So even if the NVR is stolen, you still a back up video in each cam. You can check whether the LaView system has it.

Idmss push notifications "failed to subscribe"

Does the IVS in the iDMSS related to the camera's IVS? It seems to me that the iDMSS IVS does not use the intrusion area drawn in my camera's IVS setup; and you are allowed to select totally different type of IVS than your camera setup.

    Lost capability by using POE?

It is now possible with the newest firmware for some NVR: Hitting cameras web pages with a laptop in an NVR with POE My NVR certainly has NTP timesync, and it seems to time sync with all the cameras automatically. I don't see this as a major consideration factor any more now with the link to...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

There are two silica gel packs inside the camera housing. What is the recommended thing to do? Leave it in or take it out? Does the camera lens barrel move during zooming? One pack is next to the lens.

Cameras with Built-in ANPR or LPR function

There are a few reasons. First, there is the confusion caused by the fact that it does not have LPR function out of the box. And this function is not advertised in the product description or specification in Hikvision web site. There are even different versions of the camera brochure, one...

    DS-2CD4A26FWD-IZ/P :: ANPR :: LPR

Actually, I have discussed about this particular camera in a thread I posted not too long ago: Cameras with Built-in ANPR or LPR function One important caveat is that out of the box, the camera may not have LPR function, as it requires special LRP firmware. If you did not buy it from...
