calling for cleaver, cool, coax cable counting.....

If you have 10 coaxial cables running in a bundle and you can't easily access the ends, is there a way to identify or pick up the signal/current running through them? I want to number my wires CAM#1, CAM#2 etc... I have the ability to power each camera independently, so how can I know which...

    DB-11 integration with Amazon Alexa?

Does anyone know if this is possible? I believe the Ring doorbell pings the echo-dot and you can view the image on the echo-spot. I'm unsure if down the line there will be a API for this for the DB-11? Thoughts?

Replacing/upgrading BNC cameras on Ganz DR4N

agree with fenderman and bigredfish, get a XVR, best of both worlds coax/IP The camera you have is good. 2MP, 3.6mm lens, Turret, (I don't know if it has a starlight CMOS) Do not downgrade it to match older hardware. Your infrastructure already probably has coaxial and separate power cables, so...

    power supply question

Thank you guys, transitioning to PoE (running cables). For now, I'll use either a 1.5A or 2A 12V DC power supply. So just for clarification, if a power supply says 12V DC - 2A, does that mean it will always push 2amps into the camera, or is that the power supply's potential maximum, and the...

    power supply question

camera specs say: 12V DC, max 5.5Watts. What amperage power supply should I get, if I want to connect 2 of these cameras using the same supply. (what happens to the wattage requirements when things are connected in parallel) Thanks!

Replacing/upgrading BNC cameras on Ganz DR4N

@fenderman: quick question, why do you recommend the 3.6mm lens vs. 2.8mm? I've heard this before from others as well. Thanks! (looking at the cliff notes now to find answer)

Help unbricking a Dahua NVR with TFTP and serial connection.

So this will allow you to use a straight through cable connected from your NVR to your Computer. No need for a null modem cable? Nice detective work and great easy solution!

    New Amazon shop

"on the box"? They actually don't come with the Dahua logo on the camera casing itself, is that not correct? I mean the written Dahua logo stamped on the metal casing. Thanks.

Dahua DHI-NVR4208-8P - how to downgrade firmware

@TheDude @riogrande75 I believe you guys are correct, you cannot return to older firmware through the convention route, like within the DVR application, but using tftp trick/serial connection it is possible.

Help unbricking a Dahua NVR with TFTP and serial connection.

okay the 5216-4KS2 has an RS232 port. Rock solid device, higher end. So either use a USB-RS232 or a null modem cable (if your computer is old enough that it has a DB9 COM port). This should give you full serial console access. Why did you have problems with the USB-R232 adapters? Try using...

Dahua IPC EASY unbricking / recovery over TFTP

This no longer works with new firmware that has sign.img. I don't see this stated in the first post. OP should be aware to modify 1st post. The idea here is to find a firmware for your camera that is around 2017 that doesn't have sign.img when you unpack it. Then, run Commands.bat, run...
