    Dahua has a new water proof junction box PFA130-E / PFA130E for Turrets ( PFA137, PFA139 )

Yes, you can cut a slit in the big rubber grommet. Mine came already cut but I guess they missed that step on your's. Yes, the steel cable is for keeping the lid and camera safely tethered to the box.

Cam #5 and #6 are up (includes dual starlight)

I cleaned my domes this evening. It doesn't really look any different in the day, but its much clearer at night with the IR on.

I need to clean them. I've been through one unusually rainy winter.

I don't believe the mounting orientation would have been a problem either way. The mini eyeballs have a pretty good range of motion. I used the bracket hoping for slightly better sunlight resistance by having the domes pointed downward rather than outward.

Wouldn't the backlight control with a custom area do that?

    PoE Switch Suggestion List

Power draw depends on the camera, but my 2MP Dauha Starlights use about 3w during the day and 6w with the IR is on, if I remember correctly.

So far so good. I do need to clean one of the domes in particular. I don't know where you live, but if you get a lot of rain, I'd strongly favor the turrets. If you search my user name, I have a post with a side-by side picture of this camera in the rain with IR on vs. off vs a turret. I can get...

    Lit up neighbors

Your camera will likely be higher than where you took the picture from. The camera that produced this picture is about 7.5' high, right above the garage door, and angled downward to avoid the neighbor's windows across the street. I don't think you'll have too much trouble keeping his light out...

    Lit up neighbors

Wow its like a spot light aimed at you. Maybe get a few green lasers off Aliexpress and aim them at your neighbor's windows until he gets the idea.

    Lit up neighbors

You'll have to do some tests with an actual camera but it may not be as bad as you think. I have a front door mini-dome with the porch light in frame and it looks fine. I actually got more flare when I tested the camera from a position on the same wall as the camera with the light just out of...

    Light as a deterrent

I'm sure it varies by camera, but my Dahua starlights adjust pretty quickly. I've played around with different sensor lights, and found the ones with more reach are better. If the light doesn't come on until the subject to really close to the light, the face got blown out. Having the light come...

    Computer for 24/7

Laptops also aren't meant for 24/7 use. They don't dissipate heat as well as a desktop, the tiny fans and vents get clogged with dust easily, and heat kills electronics.

No alarm but I so have alerts set up in blue Iris. The neighbors sensor lights detect movement on my side of the wall so that would help too.

Cam #5 and #6 are up (includes dual starlight)

I've only had them up a few months but I should probably clean them. There's some cloudiness in the corners at night when the IR is on that's probably just dirt. The turrets show no such issues.

Type of Camera and placement (no eve)

I have three totally exposed cameras. One is a dual mini dome on the bracket shown above. I chose this because I wanted the domes aimed downward to minimize sun/water exposure. The other two are turrets mounted on 130E waterproof junction boxes. One is mounted direct to the house and I caulked...
