My Dahua NVR5432 was hacked last week!

Yes, when I reviewed the NVR logs, I also did see 'config' user account added at one point.

Onvif camera added to Unifi Protect

Reporting back. No issues with streaming UNVR to Blue Iris, to mobile cellular using Teleport VPN and recording to UNVR at the same time. Of course though, I am using all Dahua or Dahua-oem cameras, not Hikvision.

Onvif camera added to Unifi Protect

I just got all 12 of my cameras which consists of Dahua Turrets, PTZ, Amcrests, Amcrest doorbell, all hooked up and adopted to the UNVR. All these cameras range from model years 2017 up to 2023. At the same time the cameras are also feeding separately into an Intel NUC running Blue Iris to give...

HUGE RUMOR: Unifi Protect will support ONVIF cameras (like from HIK/Dahua)

By the way the UDM ProSE has teleport. I just used it. Wow it is truly zero config setup. Got it working on my phone in under two minutes including app download for wifiman.

HUGE RUMOR: Unifi Protect will support ONVIF cameras (like from HIK/Dahua)

Yeah I spent countless hours figuring out how to block inter-vlan. Most of the YouTube videos apply to the UDM and that’s using firewall rules. But because I have a layer 3 switch and having the VLANs use that as the router/forwarder, the firewall rules didn’t apply. I have to use ACLs. UDM Pro...

HUGE RUMOR: Unifi Protect will support ONVIF cameras (like from HIK/Dahua)

That’s the easiest way. Yes yes I thought about that. I like to make my life more complicated and really just lock down these Chinese cameras from ever sending a native packet out to the web. Period. So I prefer to just have the Rapsberry Pi, running a OS, fetch the NTP and have it serve the...

HUGE RUMOR: Unifi Protect will support ONVIF cameras (like from HIK/Dahua)

This week, after my hack thread regarding my Dahua nvr5432, I have migrated all my onvif Dahua and Amcrest cameras to the Ubiquiti UNVR paired to a UDM ProSE and ProSwitch running vlans and layer3 inter-vlan management. The Protect app hands down is way better and more intuitive to use. The...

My Dahua NVR5432 was hacked last week!

I’ve just about fully migrated all Dahua cameras to my new Ubiquiti UNVR. The Ubiquiti App is so much more easier to use than iDMSS. So much more user friendly. However, the Protect UI on the console for managing cameras is quite lacking when compared to Dahua’s NVR app. Another bummer is...

My Dahua NVR5432 was hacked last week!

I ran Windows Defender scan along with MalwareBytes scan. Nothing found. No keyloggers. I'm convinced the intrusion was a network intrusion. I have confirmed that I was not the only one hacked this past couple of weeks. Others were as well and had the same signature.

My Dahua NVR5432 was hacked last week!

So how does OPNSense compare to pfSense and Firewalla Purple? Is this yet another system that runs on windows Linux that attaches in between the router and your home switch? I’m actually considering the Firewalla Pirple now from the above recommendation due to its DNS filtration capability...

My Dahua NVR5432 was hacked last week!

Gentlemen you are correct. I bought the UDM Pro SE, the Pro Switch Poe w/ Layer 3 support and their UNVR. Yes I’ll be going full VLAN and device segregation from this point on. IoTs will be on one vlan. PCs on another. TV and Fridge as well.

My Dahua NVR5432 was hacked last week!

I'll be switching to WireGuard the next time around. By the way, I'm switching to a Ubiquiti NVR. Ubiquiti has finally opened up their ecosystem to support ONVIF. For sh** and giggles, I'm going to flash the latest firmware to the NVR and if it bricks.. so be it.

My Dahua NVR5432 was hacked last week!

Yeah. But what happened to the ipcamtalk philosophy of “Don’t update fw if you don’t have to or it’ll brick it?” Lol

My Dahua NVR5432 was hacked last week!

I’m not going to dispute that. I run Windows 11 with BitLocker by default. malware is certainly a possibility but windows scan didn’t detect anything. I’ll try a stronger scanner. They very early version or V4.0. Build 08/09/2019. Perhaps they used the login bypass hack? Sure. NVR is Hardware 1.0
