Hi. Yes, it was installed by a contractor who ran the cable and mounted it on the tree. But a critter chewed through the cable, so I used a dual female waterproof coupler to splice it. It worked just fine until last week, and we have had no rain.
I don't think we installed any CCA cable in...
Well, it's definitely the network. I was walking around tonight and watching the camera track me while the camera was not pingable. So POE was definitely getting through, but there was no network traffic flowing. I moved it to a different port on the switch, with no change. I will have to...
Folks, I am seeing a weird problem the last few days with my 3 yr old unit mounted up on a tree. The camera has been very reliable, but now it seems to stop being accessible from the network for some periods of time, sometimes 5 mins, sometimes 30+ mins. It always comes back, but I don't...
Mine doesn't trigger on rain (we don't get snow here), but it does trigger on insects flying by when they cross a tripwire or intrusion zone. Only at night of course. The insects can be a fair number of pixels in size if they fly near the camera. I think it's also related to the shutter time...
Whichever you pick, do NOT allow it to be directly connected to the Internet without a restrictive firewall, and do not allow direct port forwarding from the router to the NVR. Use a VPN etc... These Chinese NVRs are the source of huge botnet attacks...
One thing about security updates with these cameras - you should never consider these cameras as any kind of trusted device, no matter if it has "patches" or not! The NVR's are even worse! A huge % of DDOS networks today are being powered by NVR's and security cameras hooked up to high speed...
Argh. Looks like a squirrel chewed through the CAT6 cable running up the side of the tree it's mounted on.
At least that's not that hard to fix. Do folks have any ideas about how to prevent critters from chewing through exposed cat6 cable?
I will take it down today and verify it's not the wiring or switch. If it's dead, I'll try and followup with Andy for a fix.
I actually didn't install it myself, my contractor who did all the wiring for the cameras installed it, but the wiring is in the camera mount and pretty isolated with...
I didn't have a longevity warning on my unit, but it stopped sending video at 11:47AM, and it doesn't even sync for POE on the switch. I inspected the wiring, and don't see any damage, nor does moving it to another port on the switch doesn't result a power up either.
It looks like it just...
You need an 802.3at injector for this camera - 16W isn't enough. Most new POE switches do 802.at anyway, but if you are using an injector, 802.3af isn't going to cut it.
I have that set, but the insects create a bit of a trail at night with the exposure settings. I had changed them around to optimize for dealing with headlights etc... Maybe I should revisit that...
I have done some tuning that helped with most of this. Maybe I didn't optimize enough!
Yes, the problem with BI spotters is that there is a decent lag in processing, so sometimes a car already has moved to a different zone by the time the spotter triggers. It does break the track so the...
Actually, I was talking about motion detection the in camera itself, video motion detection and smart motion detection, and I am using the ONVIF event detection for BI to pick it up. I need to see if the camera is actually locking on objects and tracking them but not generating an alert, or...
Thanks for the feedback. There are limited locations available for mounting this camera, and I do have fixed cameras that look at other positions as well, albeit from the house and not on the other side of the fence, where this camera is located. I use the other cameras as spotter to direct...
