Onvif camera added to Unifi Protect

Just in case others find this thread, the Hikvision cameras were also serving streams to other devices, so there is no issue with Protect, we were just hitting the maximum number of concurrent streams Hikvisions could serve. Thanks, this was very useful for debugging purposes, I appreciate your...

Onvif camera added to Unifi Protect

Thanks @MakeItRain! It would be interesting if other Hikvision Users test this integration. As far as my personal experience with Hikvision goes, their cameras can serve up to 4 / 5 concurrent streams, so I wouldn't think the fact that Protect is taking 2 for itself, as mentioned by...

Onvif camera added to Unifi Protect

Good morning! I'm helping a person who owns Hikvision cameras and wanted to add them to their Unifi Protect via the recently added Onvif support. I wonder if other Ubiquiti users here have noticed the following issue: - Before the integration in Unifi Protect, the Onvif cameras' RTSP stream...

HUGE RUMOR: Unifi Protect will support ONVIF cameras (like from HIK/Dahua)

That's absolutely great news for a lot of people; kind of surprising, considering their (lonely) push on RTSPs, but very welcome!

    Annke c500 Turret - Rtsp

Considering that you're seeing the stream properly on the phone, there's no packet loss; one hypothesis might be that the VLC buffer is too small for the stream, which is very odd considering it's just 1080p, but I've seen that happen a limited number of times with 4K cameras. The issue is, I'm...

    Cannot connect new IP cam

That's only a reasonable desire, and hopefully you'll be able to return it. As with all things, the more you know and spend, the better gear you can get, but in my experience you don't need to spend a lot to get decent functionality... but you need to at least have an actual company to refer to...

    Cannot connect new IP cam

If you can return it, it would probably not be a bad idea. If you can't, try the YYP2P app instead; a User once had a Xgody branded camera and used that app for setting it up. If you succeed, most likely the RTSP path will be /h264_stream (but again, you'll probably need the password for that)...

    Hi! New member from Italy

Thank you @sebastiantombs for your warm welcome and helpful links and suggestion! I'm loving it here already, but there's a lot I don't know about cameras... I've done more on the software and protocols side, and must confess I'm quite ignorant on hardware. I appreciate the path you've traced in...

    Hi! New member from Italy

Thank you! It takes a nut to know a nut, I guess. I have the passion, but from a few posts I've read not nearly the experience of many of you... but I can learn, and become nuttier!

    Hi! New member from Italy

Hi! I am Cesare, a software developer from Italy with a passion for IP cameras that's growing to somewhat unhealthy levels... Full disclosure: I found the forum while searching the name of my app on Google and saw it mentioned it here, but I am not here to self-promote it (but if anyone needs...
