I'm needing a little advice on setting up new computer for BI.

I got my new computer for the BI setup and am ready to get started with the setup of Windows 10 and BI. I have setup literally hundreds of computers in my lifetime, but I had a couple of things that maybe someone on here has done to bypass somethings. When I go through the process of setting W10 for the first time, I usually go through the regular routine. It is usually getting setup to be a computer for home use for me or for some of my friends or someone I built a computer for. Since this is not going to be for any use other than a Blue Iris server, are there any tricks that some of you have used to bypass some of the Microsoft stuff, or is it just your typical setup?
What name needs to used when setting up for W10? Sorry, it sounds like I know nothing about Windows, but I really do. I just have never done a computer for just BI. I did mine with BI, but that was already running with my credentials, and I just made it into my BI server.
I'm really just wanting to know if there are anythings people do differently for this, then a regular W10 installation???

That is my problem with almost everything I do. I overthink things too much. I go and ask questions and read and watch videos. I ask so many questions, people get the idea that I have never done this before, and I don't know what I'm doing.
I just look at it like there are people out there that are experts at this and do it everyday or a lot. I like to learn and asking questions for me is the fastest way I get information.

Okay, another question though. The key for Windows 10 Pro. The computer is a Dell OptiPlex 7040 I got refurbished that says it comes with W10 Pro. It has W10 Pro, but I don't find the key on the outside case.
In the video he mentions about the W10 key. Will I need to setup the computer first in order to get the key, and then go back in and do the MC Tool?
 
Yep very straight forward. Really easy for a "new" machine as you do not need to worry about any existing files.

I didn't need the key when I did mine on my refurb. I think it is in the BIOS.

You could always set it up to get the key and then immediately blow out the drive and start new.

Also, should I set it up for personal use or for an organization, since it is not really a home use computer, but for BI only. I think personal, but just want to make sure.
Next, what do most of you do for creating an account, do you do it offline, or use the Microsoft setup. I don't want it to link to anyone's account if possible. Thanks.
 
Our experiences say you don't need to, but if the OCD takes over LOL. If you feel more comfortable doing the original first, then go for it.

It doesn't matter. I set it up for personal and works just fine.

Yeah, I forget the step, but there is a way to skip the online account and keep it local. And I think you can use an account to set it up, then logout and login in locally.

No. Windows will find it and activate on its own.

If you want to comfort yourself there are some utilities that will find the key.

Yes, when you do the install I think at the bottom of the account window you can choose local account.

Yes, personal. Organization is for use with a Windows domain, etc.

In the video it shows the step you are talking about. You just click on offline account. But, if you do that, what happens? Will I miss out on something? I have never done that so, I'm not sure how that will affect the PC.
 
Nope you will not miss out on anything other than no cloud based storage and integration with other devices under the same account, which most of us do not use.
 
You can't use some features like replication to OneDrive and it will pester you at times for your Microsoft account.

Not much need for it on a BI server.
 
You should also consider shutting off updates in Win10 to prevent driver conflicts. Alternately, just disable updates to the video drivers.
