Ahhhh... Sorry. Made an assumption. I'll play around with motion detection setting on the actual cam and see if I can figure it out.

no problems :) i use internet explorer for the settings and a professionnal nvr for recording

BICK

I am highly interested in this camera myself. It appears to have the same sensor as the Low Light cameras. Question? Does this camera come with the POE style connector? I also assume this camera will work with my Hikvision NVR?

yes POE, yes it should work fine with most Hikvison NVR's.

Got mine this morning - still playing with it on the bench, but the auto tracking works quite well (albeit it is upside down !!) - I will try and get some like for like night shots vs my old 2332 3MP once it is mounted in place.

Oh - BTW this thing is quiet, you can barelly hear the PTZ in action - so much so that no one in the office has noticed it tracking them moving around!!!

Ok the night performance of this camera is pretty impressive.

I mounted it next to one of my old DS-2CD2032-I 3mp models, and I set the exposure to match.

2032 settings

Min Exposure 1/150
Gain 90
Day Mode, No IR.
WDR 5
DNR 50

2DE4A220IW settings

Min Exposure 1/150
Gain 94
Day Mode, No IR
DNR 40

I find the night picture quite bright at my required min shutter of 1/150 - so I have taken the gain down to 50, and dropped the DNR to 35.

I find a high DNR really drops the picture quality on tracking and moving objects - DNR of 30-35 is a very good compromise especially when you are not running a very high gain.

The software is bit of a mess, there are settings which do not seem to do anything (like exposure value 1 to 5, what does this do?). Also something like the min-focus does not work right. I had mine set to 6m, nothing is ever going to be any closer than 10m to the camera - but I realised after a lot of fault finding, that anything other than 10cm causes an out-of-focus picture when zooming out to Z20.

It is also a shame the image switching settings do not allow you to attached different 'scenes' to different presets (unless I have not understood how to??), it works well for defining different 'scenes' for different times of the day.

There is some slight IR halo/glare on the right side, I don't use IR so not a huge thing for me - Also some lens flare when the sun is to the right & back of the camera <- these could be specific to my camera and location.

Otherwise pretty impressed - especially the tracking of people using the smart events.

I need to get another one of these and I will probably go for the 3MP version.

did you notice it has DIGITAL ZOOM also :), ie you can zoom past 20x :D, not sure why you are getting IR glare as IR's are below and each side of the sensor.

Not a fan of digital zoom - so have that turned off.

Not sure about the IR thing myself either - it could be assembly issue with the dividers inside the dome seperating the sensor & IR emitters.

where is the setting for that did not see it ?

Did I mention the software is a bit strange?!?!

Well I thought I had made it up, as I could not find it - finally after going around and around - set the image 'scene' to outdoor - and a new heading appears 'Other', in there you have lens init, and zoom limit - I set it there to 20, and it does not allow you to zoom past Z20.

I did not realize that this camera was $500 dollars. I was thinking it was in the $300 to $350 range. What are you guys paying for this camera?
