WTB Help with which ptz camera to buy

Domes outside are a pretty shitty ordeal, they are only appropriate indoors..

clear plastic will sunburn and degrade w/exposure to UV, the'll look like old plastic car headlights if they are always in the sun..

the curved plastic also catches light from all over and can fog up/bind the camera, outside lighting is always changing and you cant controll it like inside.

water spots, dirt, dust, etc on the dome reflect IR night vision back into the lens and blind it, and the dome glows with IR and attracts insects like none other.

the only reason to ever use a dome outside is if your having issues w/vandals and already lost a few cameras; and then you should just go w/cheaper fixed cameras and not PTZ's.

Thanks for all the info I just read this whole thread. Where can I order one from that has the best price and what's the next model up from this one?

Are there any issues with having a black face PTZ in the open with UV? I'm assuming not but since you have experience.

nope, the cover over the lens is glass.. black ABS plastic might change color shade eventually, but it'll take a while.. longer than the life of the camera I suppose.

Its clear plastic that turns cloudy/milky and ruins the camera because you cant buy replacement domes very easy.

Thanks, you made me even more glad I got that one lol. I'm assuming that PSU is just a wall wart? I bought the 30w POE+ injector you linked me to last week, I'd rather run ethernet to it and that's it.
