The Dahua US site shows a different model number vs. the Dahua international site.

US = SD59A230TN-HN(i)
INT = SD59230T-HN

The only difference I can find between them is the Field Of View (FOV)

SD59230T-HN 67.8 ~ 2.4
SDA59230TN-HN(i) 54.1 ~ 3.2

Ahhh...yes, very confusing. That model (SD59230T) will work for my needs. It has POE+ and everything else. I'm just searching hard for a mount and adapter that it looks like it needs. And any other suppliers in the USA but doesn't look promising.

Very confused about this whole Chinese retailer/supplier chain. Everyone carries them but no one actually has them in stock except for allie express. Do USA people not usually use these? Should I have gone a different route then Dahua? Shouldn't be this tough to get a camera when you are willing to send the $ :) for it. Or maybe these are just a lot cheaper still then american counterparts.

Thanks nayr, I'm reading your post about the camera and bracket right now. Helps me out a lot.

it comes with a wall mount, these things can be a trick to install.. not easy carrying a fragile camera up a ladder and screwing it in with one hand.. I tied a string around the top and hung it from a nail as a saftey cord while I was plugging everything in and bolting it in place.

Good point. I will probably have my brother install it carefully with a safety rope from above. And I'll stand below spotting him.

We were thinking of mounting the entire camera/ wall mount on a large block of redwood, pre drill holes in the wood at angles, ethernet wires attached already and out the side, then when he gets up there, all he has to do is get the 6 large screws from the wood into the tree to secure it.

Thanks smoothie. More then I wanted to spend but that will have to do. I didn't know there was a higher res version.

I think I overlooked the mounting for these. Doesn't look like it comes with a mount for the tree?

Is it easy enough to build your own with metal pipe or should I try to track down this: PFB303S ??
I wouldn't go after higher resolution as it will impact night image, 2MP is sufficient especially for 30x zoom and will be better at night.

She's using it for a Lake Cam, I think she will be happier with the 4MP Version..

I have 2MP PTZ's because they are much better at night and with zoom they dont need the extra pixels so badly.. but your pointed at a lake, and at night everyone should have lights operating on craft or it'll be frozen over and be plenty bright.. and I really love my 4MP Dahua's in the daytime, so for this environment.. screw night performance.. go for resolution and image quality because its the daytime she's going to be using it mostly.

A very good point to consider klasipca, i saw those comments in another thread. But as nayr stated, this will be much more for use during the day to see lake activity and weather and fine details in the sun will help. At night we just need it to check on the dock, or boat in a wind storm, so things close by. In the winter everything is covered snow that reflects the moonlight, which should help.

With the flexibility of this thing. I am leaning towards hanging out off to one side on the tree towards the lake and towards the stairs. That way it could potentially pivot back around 180 degrees and look at the house. Although the limited tilt up factor may be the killer for that idea. But, would be an excellent way to zoom in close and check out the big icicles near the roof or watch the bears or surveil if a motion detector alarm is tripped.

the fact that it can even tilt up makes it ideal for the lake, most have 0 degrees up.. so you'd end up installing it very high, and then that tree swaying would drive you bonkers for sure.

I have mine mounted 15ft up and I can watch the lightning storms in the distance no problem..

That will be perfect then, more then enough. I saw that most don't tilt up at all, so a big plus.

I def didn't think about the zoom factor of the lens in correlation with the tree. You're so right. Every move will be amplified. I'll have to give it a shot though and readdress if it's too bad. I'd much rather not install a big ugly 20 ft. pole on the shoreline. I have to work with what we have right now. The siblings and myself all share the house and it took a bit of convincing to have them let me add security cameras.

Would look something like this:

For anyone reading this thread and purchasing a Dahua PTZ 20x or 30 in the future.

I bought one off alliexpress and asked for the wall mount to be included. The buyer told me he would add one to the sale for $15 extra. When I asked for the link to them on the site he couldn't provide one. Then he said he would throw it in the sale for free. I.e. they are supposed to come with the camera, there is a spot in the box for them. Retailers generally don't carry just the wall mount as an accessory because it is in the original box (see photo).

They are even supposed to come with power transformer. As per nayr's experience and this research. See accessories (included) vs. optional accessories in the owner's manual.

The only thing you might not have noticed is even though it's on NewEgg this equipment you linked is actually shipped from a different seller in China. Probably have quite a delay before receiving it as well.
Ya, it says that now. But before it showed stock in USA and was in-stock. The guy on the phone even said it was in-stock and ready to ship. I think they went to pull the part from the shelf and they couldn't find it. I was thinking NewEgg might be the next Amazon competition :) , but not anymore. They seem pretty disorganized.

Ah ok. I had been looking on NewEgg for the last week for various parts and noticed a lot of stuff being listed by "Other sellers" than New Egg. I've bought many PC parts from them in the past and they've always been good. Things do change though.

Its like amazon. Some items are sold by amazon.com and others are sold by third party sellers....newegg has a bunch of dahua cams they sell from newegg.com...

Hi guys, currently I have the NetGear WN2000V4 and I am not happy with the range or speed performance. I get 40-50mbps through LAN but through the 2.4 GHZ I only get 7-15mpbs 10 ft away. I have checked all the settings and tried different placement. I'm afraid to do the firmware upgrade and disrupt the port forwarding or crash it.

What do you guys suggest for a better wifi/router that will operate well with this CCTV system I am building? I don't need super fancy, less then $80 if possible, just fast wifi for people's iPhone and laptops connected within 20-100ft. and apple TV and good solid router performance for the new IP Cameras. And remote log-in.

I'm happy that the cable internet speeds are fast with the LAN setup. That was my first worry, but they are pretty solid for the IP cameras.
