Upgrading firmware for DS-7608NI-SE/P

Your build number indicates a 2015 released firmware.
The earliest firmware version I have is 2.3.3 build 130604 from the USA FTP portal of around 2015 (meaning released in 2013, just when the SE/P series was rather popular.
The earliest firmware from the European portal was 2.3.7 build 131112 (also released in 2013).
So you are asking for an earlier version (2.2.5) with a later year build date (2015). It seems confusing. Where have you seen this strange firmware version?

It came with my NVR - serial: DS-7608NI-SE/P0820151207BBRR559408284WCVU

Half briked my NVR : DS-7608NI-SE/P - Tried upgrading NVR from V2.2.5 build 150421 to V2.3.12 build 160622 (US)

Coming from a Uniview background with seamless upgrade experience I didn't realise how careful you need to be with Hikvision stuff

If it is not broke do not fix it.
If there is not a specific problem you are having that needs to be fixed by the specific upgrade do not up grade the firmware. There are 100s of posts about people who have bricked there cameras and NVRs trying to upgrade. This is not a PC or Mac, it does not need to be upgraded.

All the above are only for the DS-76XXNI-SE/P models.
As you should know, the versioning and management of firmware versions in the various HIK sites was and it still is a mess. Hence, the so many firmwares I have gathered over the years from the various sites.

Which one would you like?

Good day aster.I came accross your post here and hope you can help. I have an old NVR Model: DS-7608NI-SE/P . I have read up on how to read the serial number which is in the attached image together with the firmware version it had on before I buggered it. I have tried to upload US version software via tftp in this link Assistance with Legacy Firmware (Hikvision)
but it got rejected and then bricked the bastard. So I can only assume because my serial number have the RR it means region unspecified and I have to change this firmware file somehow to show as RR or region unspecified? Would my assumptions be correct and if so I just need a bit of guidance please. Thanks in advanced.

Hello. I am new to NVR. I want to monitor my home at a low cost. I have a ds-7608ni-se device. Is the firmware for ds-7608ni-se the same as for ds-7608ni-se / p? I know the difference between the ds-7608ni-se (no PoE) ds-7608ni-se / p (it has PoE switch). I need access from the android platform.

In the past I have posted that the DS-760XNI-SE(P) is very finicky when communicating with the PC that has the TFTP server. Try to find my posts. I have recovered my personal same model several times from apparent brick states. Connect the NVR and the PC with the TFTP server ONLY to an un-managed switch. Do not connect any other devices to the switch. Follow the instructions of the TFTP server. In my old posts I have described the messages that the TFTP Client in the server is sending and expecting.

@aster1x - While I generally don't like replying to 5 year old threads- I'll try here first and see if it gets your attention!
I was just gifted a new DS-7608NI-SE (8P). The box was still sealed! Was also given 3 cameras - all "new" 6 years ago.

I'll get right to the point - I found the LATEST firmware I could download, and I installed it successfully. V3.0.22_170621 Perhaps I jumped the gun.
Everything works great - except for the 1 feature I want, and the 1 feature I've read every is posting about - the lack of SMTP emailing. (I mean, it's there - but it just doesn't work)

I was HOPING I could go BACK in versions - hoping to regain the SMTP ability. (Although I've seen no documented proof that the older firmware will resolve my issue - I've got nothing to lose.)

Out of the box it came with 2.3.3_130620. I would love to get my hands on that - and all the other USA firmware collection you have. Of course if you're aware of the versions where the e-mailing worked, that would be great to know.
I've been reading that it's possible to go backwards in version using TFTP available on here - hoping you still have a stash of firmware for this old machine.

Thanks

The problem is not the SMTP used in the email. The problem is the TLS encryption and authentication protocol used by most modern email servers like Gmail. The only solution is to find a provider that supports the old encryption and authentication protocols or even that you setup your own email server with old versions software that do not support the newer protocols. Additionally in the era of that model HIK differentiated the models between Chinese targeted firmwares and European and international. There are many old threads describing how to interpret from the 4 characters in the serial number the targeted market. Post the 4 characters from your serial number to ask the forum for more details.

Huh... so even though the receiver setup supports SSL (checkbox anyway) and GMAIL supports SSL - it's how i'm using my FreeNas email notification...

Is there a reason why I care if its Chinese, European or International? Just to run the right FW?

It is the old TLS version.

In that era you could not load a European FW to a Chinese targeted NVR. People were importing grey market cheaper Chinese versions to European markets that supported only Chinese language and they were converting them with many dubious ways to English. But when you were trying to upgrade to another English version FW, the NVR was bricked. So be careful to match the correct FW version and language to the original language of your NVR. There are many threads around 2014 about this popular NVR.

SSL and TLS are related protocols for authentication and encryption. The old protocols in the old 7608 NVR are not supported in the modern versions of email servers for security reasons. The same is true for the popular camera HIK 2335 model of that era.
