Latest new IPC-HDW5231R-ZE IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V2.800.0000018.0.R.210707

My HDW5442T-ZE is triggered by cats and hedgehogs with firmware version from dahuasecurity.com DH_IPC-HX5XXX-Volt_MultiLang_PN_Stream3_V2.840.0000000.25.R.230425

Sounds like you're using dumb motion detection. lemand91 is asking about IVS detecting non-humans/vehicles. Dumb motion detection doesn't work for me because of triggering on shadows and flying insects, and my 5442-ZE is sitting on a shelf like a brick because of that. I've tried 8 different firmware versions, none of which will detect hedgehogs using IVS.

One 5442ZE is running V2.840.15OG00D.0.R, Build Date: 2022-08-18. Yesterday I installed a new 5442ZE S3 version with V3.100.0000000.5.R, Build Date: 2023-05-09.
They are both installed next to the 5231R-ZE. But we haven't had animals last night so I can't comment on that.

Ah, here we have a difference, I'm using IVS (tripwire) so motion detection is not enabled on mine, mostly because IVS is supposedly better at ignoring things like shadows, leaves etc.
IVS has a setting called "target filter" where you can choose 'human' and/or 'motor vehicle' so it will only trigger on those.
But you can uncheck "target filter" so I should also trigger on other things (like animals), however; it never does.

There's a whole thread about it: Detecting wildlife with Dahua cameras
But Dahua doesn't seem to care to fix it.
A ha. Im using both ivs tripwire and motion detection. I cant remember tripwire was triggered by a cat or hedghog,no. Afaik i have target filter disabled. I haven't experimented a lot with all those settings.
Btw, did you have a look on real wildlife cameras, instead of security?

1st time attempting an upgrade for IPC-HDW5231R-ZE which is currently on 2.800.0000013.0.R, Build Date: 2019-12-02. Are these the right steps?
1) Take screenshots of all pages
2) Factory reset and reboot
3) Upgrade
4) Factory reset again and then start configuring

Thanks

Many of us will do 3 factory resets before and after update.

Are you sure the release notes will fix the issue you are updating for?

Where can I find release notes

this is the only issue I’m upgrading for - DST time

As @TonyR mentioned, I had this issue with this camera after years of operation and 3 factory resets got it going again. I think the firmware just got corrupt over time. I would try that first before a firmware update.

Only time-related thing is this - 2 There is time synchronization information in logs when timing by NTP, ONVIF and private protocol.
I just think that given I'm doing a factory reset, I might as well upgrade. There are many reports of successfully doing an upgrade

btw, is factory reset by going to Settings - > System - Factory Default sufficient or do I need to do something physically on the camera itself?

In theory doing the factory reset by GUI is the same as pushing the button, but if I have easy access to the button, that is my first choice.

Did first factory reset but strangely it maintained the IP address. I though it'll go back to default 192.168.1.108 IP. Doing 2nd factory reset now

Anyone else have issues with SMTP +SSL? I also lose any modifications done to the settings after reboot, it reverts back to an older state. Before and after the upgrade.
