Digital License Plates

SO like right now I pay $270 a year for the license plate sticker renewal in MN....it goes a down a percentage each year. after 10 years of age( the car) it's a flat $45 bucks or something.
SO in addition to my annual Registration renewal fees I'd be paying $25 a month to sport digital plates? in this economy? Would'nt I be better served using that for Gas?

What could possibly go wrong with that idea?

Okay, so I guess when digital plates become required and are ubiquitous, some people will try to scrape off their reflective coating. ;-)

We should get in on the action, and make our own digital plates here. we have the Nerd/Geek know how to the 10th Power here in the forum.
I suppose in 5-10 years we'll be able to buy them with a photo ID from Walmart. :)

.Or better yet, a device which clones other passing plates, maybe every 10 minutes.

This looks cropped, unless you don't have a date or overlay on the image. What camera model, time of day, and weather conditions (sunny)?

Yes it was digital zoomed and enlarged for that post so that one could see it said electronic plate easier. It was a cloudy day around 3pm.

It is the IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 camera that I have mentioned to you in your other thread where you were complaining about that camera and I showed that it works in a similar install situation, but you never tried any of my suggestions....

Here is the uncropped/zoom image.

Nice! Glad the camera I purchased has this much potential. My only problem is the Day/Night won't change at the correct times. I have 2 cameras, 1 eventually started working correctly, the other has been stuck in B&W night mode (but won't turn on the IR LEDs until the right darkness).

FedEx around me still uses physical plates

Yeah, I don't know why the options on the ZE are different than the Z4E. I simply went in and did the monthly schedule for the ZE. Have it change to night 45min before dusk and stay night 45 min after dawn.

Maybe in the future, LPR cameras will be replaced with LPR radio receivers. ;-)
