I haven't seen this camera model mentioned previously, so I thought I'd share.
IMOU Rex-3D (3MP) - works with BI (bidirectional sound, ptz and settings, with a few caveats)
How I added the camera to BI:
- Connected camera to power and LAN
- Used Dahua config tool to locate, initialize the camera, set user/pwd and a static IP address
- Used BI with set IP and credentials to configure the camera
- I found the profile that works is for this camera IMOU / Ranger 2C RTSP (when I tried IMOU / Main Stream RTSP the PTZ was not working)
- I had a look and found that after selecting the profile mentioned above the PTZ protocol is set by BI to Amcrest ASH21 and it works fine
With the steps described above, I got a video stream, PTZ and bidirectional sounds
About configuring camera encoding fps & iframes:
- I was trying to set the camera to H264 15fps iframes 15 and CBR
- Using the Dahua config tool, the iframes are not shown as an option
- Using Onvif device manager, the GOV parameter cannot be set lower than 25 (I assume this must be what the camera returns when queried for the lower limit)
- Using SmartPSS, I managed to configure all parameters correctly
After using SmartPSS the camera is showing fps/key 15/1 in
Blue Iris as expected:
Here are setting for main and sub streams in SmartPSS:
Notes:
- for some reason the configuration for fps/iframes does not survive a camera reboot, it reverts to 25fps / iframes 100 and the only way to get it back to 15fps / iframes 15 is via SmartPSS. It also seems to hold for a while in BI but eventually reverts to 25/100 after some time even if no reboot occurs...
- also, the same behavior does not happen with the substream - it stays as I set it...
The device information shows as follows in SmartPSS:
For an indoor camera with no critical application, image quality and features are okay especially considering the price point (I got mine for €39.99). I guess the issue with the fps/key can be overlooked or if crucial, a more expensive camera will be required. I am surprised however that even my old Foscam cameras let me set and were stable with fps/iframes/etc.
As a thought, I wonder if it would be possible to sniff how SmartPSS communicates with the camera and sets the encoding options... this could be used to run a script periodically from BI and force the camera back to the state one wants...
Hope this is helpful.
Cheers
