How I broke my IPC-HDW5231R-Z
I decided I wanted more cameras after running a single cable to the side of my home, so I followed the cliff notes idea of using a POE powered switch.
The POE switch was housed in an "off the shelf" waterproof enclosure without glands (as it didn't fit well with the switch inside.)
As it is under a roof, I simply good for the best. One year later I'm power washing and
I got water in the enclosed and damaged the connection.
I've tested all the wires and managed to fit a rj45 to the camera. Fortunately it is working perfectly now.
I used shrink wrap to keep it waterproof and for neatness...
I've used blue tack (until I get some silicon sealant) around the cable entry and I drilled tiny drainage holes in the enclosure.
Hopefully it'll keep everything much drier.
Any question just ask.
I hope this helps
