HI,

Recently I purchased a used Hikvision DS-7732NI-I4/P16 NVR.

This is my first NVR as I transition away fro Blue Iris. I have all Hikvision cameras and really want to take advantage of the h.265+ codec.

Since it was used the NVR had one 4TB drive installed.

The odd thing I noticed is the device has 5x sata connections. The installed drive was on the 5th sata connection and is recognized and usable by the NVR. The NVR recognizes the drive as eSata but the connector is clearly Sata. I suspect that it's just a feature on the motherboard that is not used in this particular model. Most likely on some models there is a Sata to eSata cable that grounds to the case when installed that is not present on this model.

The NVR also has 8 sata power connectors coming off the power supply. It looks like I may be able to cobble a 5th drive in if I stacked it on top of an existing drive.

Has anyone else expanded their Hikvision NVR to use the internal connector for eSata to add an extra drive to their system? If you have did you encounter any issues or oddities with how the NVR handles the eSata drive?
