Hikvision DS-2CD2532F-IWS "CH model" firmware update

I own a Hikvision DS-2CD2532F-IWS that i bought from an Hongkong ebay seller a few years ago.
Its still running the old V5.2.5 firmware as the seller told me at the time it needed special handling for the firmware to be updated.
Now with all the security bugs and out-dating plugin issues, i really want to update the firmware.

However i'm getting really confused about the proceedings, as most guides seem to handle bricked cam's.
So looking at the serial it has "CH" in it, so i expect its a Chinese model that has been hacked for multi-language use.
And as i don't know what exactly was changed in the firmware, that is scaring me a little...
I cant find the original box, but i recall it was NOT the same firmware version that was running on the cam itself. (Think the sticker had v.5.30, although not 100% sure)

In short, how can i best proceed with updating the firmware to the most recent (possible) version?
What are the options i have here?

The 'brickfixv2' method can be used for bricked or not bricked cameras - it doesn't matter.

In short, how can i best proceed with updating the firmware to the most recent (possible) version?
What are the options i have here?

Just use the brickfixv2 / enhanced mtd hack in the stickie / and my signature - but as the camera is working OK, and with 5.2.5 firmware, be sure to use telnet to get the needed 'devType' value from the prtHardInfo command as Model DS-2CD2532F-IWS isn't in the supplied devType list.

Hello,

I did the hack to get my 2532 IWS camera with new firmware and it works great !
The only thing is that I can not get the notifications of alarm input anymore after that. And I wonder if this is not because I set 1498 for the devtype.

What dev type did you find with the prtHardInfo command ? I forgot this step...

The devType= 38932 in decimal is 0x9814 in hex.
So your devType looks OK.

I respond to myself.
I have reinstalled iVMS4500 and I can get the notification on the mobile for alarm input, but still can't get it with Hik-connect on the same phone as well. In WIFI or 4G.
With Hik connect, I get the line crossing notification, alarm intrusion notification, etc... all possible notifications except alarm input !! And this is the one I am interested in, of course

Really wierd...
