I saw this last week and had to really shake my head as to WTF was going on. Skip to time interval of 2:14 to watch how this fire was started at a local gas station. I don't pretend to know if this is a combination of mental illness vs long term drug abuse.

Regardless, this is one of those video's which is really a WTF??

To me, it looks like he threw something in the car that detonated. What it might have been beats me, but he did do something to start that.
Yes, I agree but what boggles the mind is how casually he throws what ever into the car while his friend is inside?!? :wtf: I mean that's one way to get someone out of the car that you just don't want in there.

I was thinking a lithium ion battery tossed and shorted out by something. There are Li batteries without "protection" of any sort, fuse or thermal runaway protection. If one of those gets shorted they can easily produce 30, 40 or 50 amps, or more, for a short time. That's a lot of power in a tiny little space and it definitely won't end well.

Holy Shet! It's a wonder that they didn't get blown up with the explosion.

Wonder if it was a vape stick that exploded?

Hey buddy take hit of my pot vape:cool:
I don't think the explosion was caused by a vape device, unless it is an unregulated device. Unregulated, unprotected vape devices are rare these days.

My guess is something inside the car was already giving off explosive fumes, and a spark from whatever he was using ignited it. Store bought vape juice does not release ignitable fumes. So, I conclude it was either a lighter or static electricity from the device's housing that he tossed.

It's also possible that the passenger was doing something stupid that was ignitable, such as lighting a marijuana joint while at a gas station.

The news stories say the clerk saw them pouring gas on the car before the explosion. Is this so common that it didn't set off the clerk's "call the cops right now alarm"?

From a brilliant comedian. "I used to work at a gas station. It was an interesting job; the guy that worked there with me was a former porno star. Sometimes he would get confused and pull the hose out halfway thru and just start hosing the car down."

How does a gas station recover from such a stupid and careless act? The whole gas station was destroyed along with their car. Plus, the firefighters' lives where in danger the whole time.

Who pays ... the insurance company?, the idiots?, the station owner? This is mind boggling!

Appreciate the insight as it explains how the vehicle just erupted in flames! As all modern vehicles by code use fire resistant material to slow down the burn rate.

As the other member noted there was no way that interior could have just lit up so quickly without some kind of accelerant or a fire source that was extremely hot!

Just watching that guy casually walk up and toss whatever into the car and lighting up the vehicle. All the while strolling around like it’s a beautiful Sunday evening is just maddening!

In other word everyone who has insurance through their carrier, assuming they had one and I'll bet they did just to be in business, actually pays for it.

Surprised the guy in the car got out. Any explosion strong enough to blow the windows out and and the door almost off it's hinges must have left him deaf and stunned. I'm surpirsed he was concious and suprised he wasn't burnt either by the flashover or by the subsequent fire.

Not quite sure what they got arested for. Guessing some msidemeanor relating to a suspicion of open flames on a forecourt or a deliberate act of arson. Can't see anything else really. You may well be right in that it cold have been a battery that started the fire. Definatel looked like some kind of fumes in the atmoshpere in the car though.
